Maca Powder

This Maca is grown at high altitude in the Peruvian Andes. The nutrients are concentrated in the root and lower stem. During a long growing season of several months when the nutrient content reaches its peak, the Maca is harvested. Producing Maca powder is a simple process where the roots are cleaned, broken into small pieces, and gradually dried in the open air. This dried product is then ground into powder. The Maca is a golden-yellow variety and is certified organic and raw (not heated).

What makes maca so special?

Maca is classified as a so-called adaptogenic herb or plant that strengthens the body's ability to handle strain and stress. These plants are said to be generally strengthening for the body's homeostasis (= internal balance or equilibrium).

Maca is a highly nutritious food that contains large amounts of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and all essential amino acids. The amino acid content in maca powder provides an average bioavailable protein content of approximately 14 percent by weight.

Maca powder has an impressive collection of easily absorbable minerals, including calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and iodine, among others. How do I use maca?

Maca has a distinct taste and is very versatile. You can, for example, mix it with yogurt, add it to smoothies, use it as a baking ingredient in cookies, in chocolate, or in nut milk. Maca works excellently when added to a breakfast smoothie. Morning is a particularly suitable time to take maca due to its energizing and refreshing effects – and a smoothie is quick and easy to make. Maca can also be mixed into tea, juice, or coffee (macoffee) and has its place in desserts and raw chocolate.

Adult dosage: 1 tsp to 2 tbsp per day. It's good to start with small portions (perhaps one tablespoon) and gradually increase. Maca is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

When using plants with adaptogenic properties, it is recommended that you adopt a routine that includes periods when you don't consume them. For example: Take maca daily for six weeks, then stop using it for one week.
