Iodine is a component of thyroid hormones that regulate the body's energy metabolism. We cannot live without them. Thyroxine, abbreviated as T4, contains 4 iodine atoms, and the active thyroid hormone triiodothyronine contains 3 iodine atoms and is abbreviated as T3. Fluoride (in toothpaste), chlorine (drinking water/swimming pools), and bromine (found in e.g., flame retardants) compete with iodine for the same thyroid receptors.
Adult dosage: Take 3 drops in the mouth, followed immediately by a little water once daily or as directed by your nutritional therapist/physician. Take on an empty stomach. Build up the dose slowly. If headache occurs, lower the dose and increase gradually again. Do not use late in the evening to avoid disturbing sleep.
Note: If you have Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) or Hashimoto's disease, you should be careful with iodine. Consult your doctor in such cases. Also consult your doctor before taking iodine if you are pregnant or nursing, have heart problems, or other medical conditions.
