Organic Swedish Cold-Extracted Honey

Honey is food created by bees, primarily coming from flower nectar.

Lugnets Bigårdar is a small beekeeping company located in Sörmland. At Lugnets Bigårdar, they always strive to handle bees, honey, and wax in the most careful and natural way possible. This means, among other things, that the bees are allowed to build part of their own wax themselves, exactly as they want it and not as the beekeeper wants it.

The honey is never heated during the process, this is to ensure that all the "good" substances such as enzymes and other beneficial elements in the honey are preserved as much as possible. The common practice in honey production is otherwise to heat the honey in several rounds.

What does directly tapped honey mean?

The honey from Lugnet's Apiaries is location-specific, meaning that the honey comes from hives located in the area stated on the label. The production is organic and certified by KRAV. Organic honey production means, among other things, that it's not permitted to clip the queen bee's wings to prevent swarming, and no chemical pesticides are allowed in or near the beehives.

Honey is healthy. It contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, has a lower GI value than sugar, and also tastes sweeter than sugar. Honey has been used by humans for thousands of years, both as a sweetener and in natural medicine.

It is crucial that bee products come from beekeepers who respect the environment, respect the beehive, and understand the language of bees. Many beekeepers today face problems with bees flying away as we destroy the environment/nature with pesticides and GMOs.

What can we do? Well, always buy unprocessed honey. Preferably from local beekeepers if you can find someone trustworthy who doesn't process their honey and takes care of the bees on their terms. Never buy honey from China. Plant flowers and plants that bees love in your garden or on your small patch (they love purple and blue flowers). Choose organically grown food whenever possible.
