Summer is slowly coming to an end – and maybe it’s time to charge the batteries a little extra for work or study?
One of the easiest ways to get good nutrition is through drinks of various kinds. Shots, smoothies, soft drinks, etc. Here we offer some inspiration and recipes with superfoods and herbs that can put gold on your day and give that little extra in the nutritional way; six simple recipes that you can use at any time of day.
Common to these recipes is that you need a good blender. The most affordable we know is OmniBlend which we are currently having a great campaign on!
All recipes are for one serving – if you make several then just take double or triple amount.
Green Queen
A green drink with lots of chlorophyll, antioxidants and phytonutrients. Works perfectly as a snack or after the yoga session.
2 dl water
1 dl mango in cubes (frozen or fresh)
1/2 avocado
1 teaspoon spirulina
1 scoop of wheatgrass
juice powder Mix everything until you get a lovely soft and intense green smoothie.
Blue Lagoon
Blue spirulina is a real superfood that contains large amounts of the antioxidant phycocyanin. This is a cool drink that brings the mind to tropical latitudes. Absolutely wonderful to enjoy on hot summer days and give the body some extra nutrition and recovery at the same time!
2 dl coconut water or plain water
1 banana
1 passion fruit (or 1 cube frozen passion fruit)
1 tsp Blue Spirulina
4-5 ice cubes
Mix everything into a blue dream and enjoy!
Matcha Smoothie
Matcha is a bit like the ”espresso” of the teas; it is concentrated and powerful, filled with chlorophyll, theanine and caffeine that provides a balanced energy. This smoothie is a creative and refreshing twist on the usual ”green smoothie”.
1 dl pineapple in pieces
1 banana
2.5 dl kale or spinach (loosely packed)
1.25 dl herbal milk (eg nut milk or oat milk)
1/2 teaspoon matcha powder
Pressed lemon to taste
Some ice pieces
Mix everything in one powerful mixer and serve cold.
Super Adaptogen Elixir
When we need a deep nutritional boost for the entire system, we always turn to adaptogens . It is herbs / plants that work to increase the body’s ability to adapt to all forms of stress as well as changing situations. A wonderful way to absorb them is through a warming ”elixir” – a super drink with deeply nourishing properties and herbs used for centuries for its ability to support optimal health and longevity. Here is a basic recipe that is good to vary with the herbs you need and use right now.
2.5 dl Nut milk *
2 teaspoon Coconut oil
1 teaspoon Schisandra extract
2 teaspoon Gelatinized Maca
1 teaspoon Chaga extract
Mix all ingredients until you get a foamy latte-like drink and serve well in tall glasses. This drink is also good to serve hot, e.g. for breakfast or to unwind after a long day.
Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
2 bananas
4.6 dl wild pickled blueberries, or 2 tablespoons blueberry powder
2.3 dl fresh coriander (loosely packed)
2 dl freshly squeezed orange juice.
1 tspbarley grass juice powder
1 teaspoon spirulina .
1 small fist Atlantic dulse .
Ev. water for the right texture
Mix everything and drink – preferably as breakfast!
* Cow’s milk
A good foundation in many recipes is a nutritious cow’s or cow’s milk. Here is a basic recipe for those who have not made their own herbal milk at home before. Gives 1 liter that you can store in the fridge for a few days and use almost all other forms of ”milk”.
1-2 dl seeds or nuts of any kind – preferably soaked overnight for extra nutrient uptake
1 liter of water
. sea salt, honey, stevia, turmeric or otherwise
proceed as follows:
1. Mix at high speed for 1-2 minutes until you have a uniform white liquid.
2. Sift off the remains of the nuts / seeds through a nut milk bag or a regular household strainer.
3. Store the skimmed milk in a resealable bottle or carafe in the refrigerator.
