Are you getting enough fluids during the warm summer days?
It is important to replenish with the right fluids during hot days to avoid dehydration, headaches, and sluggishness.
When you sweat a lot, lose fluids due to sports or illness, it is very important to remember to rehydrate.
Here are 5 simple tips on how to get enough fluids this summer.
1. Water
Plain water is the best thing you can drink to hydrate your body.
In most places in Sweden, we have wonderfully good tap water that can be drunk without filtering, so fill up an insulated water bottle with cold water straight from the tap and enjoy.
Add a slice of lemon or some cucumber slices if you want to flavor your water a little.
Here you can see our full range of water bottles.
2. Electrolyte powder
An electrolyte powder* helps you maintain fluid balance in the body.
Supplementing with electrolytes can be beneficial during hot, sweaty summer days, long sports sessions, sauna bathing, when following a ketogenic diet, and when you are ill.
The powder is easily mixed into a large glass of water and can be consumed 1-4 times a day.
Pureness electrolyte powder comes in the delicious flavors Mango & Orange, Lemon & Lime, Pineapple, and Forest Berry.
* Electrolytes are a group of important minerals that we need to regularly obtain through our diet. They are named because they are essentially electrically charged minerals.
This group includes sodium, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, all of which have important functions in the body – including contributing to fluid balance and many muscle, heart, and nerve functions.
In addition to the main electrolytes, Pureness Electrolyte Powder also contains Guerande sea salt, vitamin C, and organic sulfur (OptiMSM).
3. Homemade oral rehydration solution
After a tough day in the sun, it can be nice to restore the body's balance with an oral rehydration solution.
Here is a simple recipe for homemade oral rehydration solution suitable for both children and adults.
Recipe for homemade, sugar-free oral rehydration solution with honey
- 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
- 1 liter water
- 2 tbsp organic honey or skip sweetener (note that children under 1 year should not eat honey)
- Juice from 1 organic lemon
Instructions:
- Heat water and salt in a saucepan.
- Let the mixture cool to about 38 degrees Celsius and add about 2 tbsp honey (honey should not be heated above 38 degrees as it loses its beneficial properties) and the lemon juice.
- Stir and pour into a glass jar, chill, and serve.
- Store in the refrigerator. The oral rehydration solution will keep for about 3 days.
4. Homemade ice pops
