People often wonder why there's such a big price difference between similar products in natural skincare. When it comes to conventional skincare products, the price is in most cases determined by how much advertising money a brand spends. In organic skincare, it's usually about the content and the technology behind it.
The most common reasons for price differences:
The amount of water.
The percentage (%) of organic ingredients of the total amount
Which raw materials are used and in what quantities. For example, olive oil belongs to the more affordable raw material group while Moroccan rose oil is more expensive.
Advanced products with anti-aging ingredients made for specific skin types and purposes cost more to develop and manufacture compared to simpler versions.
Whether the product is certified and which certification is used also plays a role. A stricter certification requires more effort to meet the requirements and therefore becomes more costly. The more certifications, the more costly (eco, vegan, fair trade etc)
What type of packaging is used. Plastic or glass. Glass is more expensive.
Recycled or not.
Environmentally friendly ink or not.
Manufacturing method with consideration for the environment, fair trade, etc.
