Mother's Day – gifts she actually wants

What do you give to someone who is always there for everyone else?

It’s not always easy to find something that reflects what you feel, whether it’s for your mom or someone who is a mom in your life. And it’s easy to fall back on a bouquet of flowers or a box of chocolates.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

But if you think about it, maybe that’s not what she really needs most.
Maybe it’s something more thoughtful.
Something that shows care for her well-being.

So this year, why not choose something that actually makes a difference?
Not just something nice to give, but something that gives her a little more energy, recovery, or a moment for herself.

Boost her movement

Mothers are the strongest we have. A natural force.
But she also needs to recharge to keep going when life just keeps rolling.

We live in a society that rarely slows down. The pace is fast and the roles are many. Mom, partner, colleague, friend, daughter, project manager at home…
And somewhere in between, there should be time for herself.

Then the foundation becomes crucial. Sustained energy, recovery, and a body that can keep up.

Small things can make a big difference here.

Creatine, long associated with training, has recently also been highlighted for its role in mental energy and cognitive function. It’s not just for the gym but can be an easy way to support the body during periods of high demand, such as sleep deprivation. A pure creatine supplement like Thorne Creatine can easily be mixed into water or a smoothie and become part of everyday life without hassle.

Does she usually have breakfast on the go or need a convenient snack? A green powder like Terranova Life Drink is an easy way to get nutrition from vegetables, berries, and algae, along with vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that can be hard to get every day.

If she often feels tired or drained, it can also be about energy at the cellular level. Then a supplement with NAD+ and resveratrol can be a way to support the body's natural energy production.

For recovery, both for skin, joints, and tissue, collagen can be a nice complement. The body's own production naturally decreases with age, and a supplement can be a way to support what is already there. Re:Fresh Superfood Collagen is easy to mix into something she already drinks and quickly becomes a simple routine.

But it’s not all about supplements. Sometimes it’s about helping the body let go and actually unwind. Deep-acting heat, like from an infrared heat pad, can feel soothing for tense muscles and a nervous system that’s been running on high for a bit too long.

And for movement that feels gentle on the body but still strengthens deeply, something as simple as a yogaswing can contribute to both stretching, relief, and mobility. Maybe she’s an experienced yogi, or maybe it’s something new that’s needed to rediscover the joy of movement.

Nourish the skin

Okay, I’m speaking from personal experience now.

There are few things a mom appreciates as much as a moment for herself with a really good skincare routine. It’s a small luxury she needs to allow herself. A moment where she can settle, take care of herself, and feel like herself again, in the midst of everything going on.

Jojoba oil suits all skin types and is an easy way to nourish the skin, whether it is dry, sensitive, or oily. It is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants, and absorbs quickly without feeling heavy. She can use it on her face, body, or even as a nourishing hair treatment. Simple skincare at its best. And a little more luxurious than it sounds.

When the skin feels dry or tight, a richer cream can make a big difference. A product like i+m Creme de la Creme is designed to provide deep hydration and help the skin feel soft and calm again.

If the skin instead feels unbalanced, perhaps a bit reactive or stressed, a lighter face cream with soothing ingredients might be the right choice. A balancing moisturizer, like the one from Pura Vida, can help the skin find its natural calm again.

For extra moisture and radiance, a serum can be an easy step to add. Hyaluronic acid, as in Evolve Hyaluronic Serum, binds moisture in the skin and gives a more hydrated and even feel without feeling heavy.

Protect her sleep

Even though sleep is one of the most important parts of her health, it’s often the one that gets the least attention.

It’s not always as simple as just going to bed. Thoughts keep spinning. Lists that never really end. The feeling of always needing to stay one step ahead.

And then it becomes hard to really calm down.

When the body doesn’t quite get the signal that it’s time to shut down, it can be helpful to support it a little along the way.

Magnesium is one of the most central minerals for the nervous system and is often used to help the body relax in the evening. An easily absorbed magnesium, like magnesium bisglycinate, can be a simple way to give the body better conditions for recovery.

For some, it can also be nice to have more targeted support for the evening. A supplement like Alpha Plus Sleep is formulated specifically for this moment, when the body needs help to wind down and find calm before night.

And sometimes it’s not just about the evening, but how the body handles stress throughout the day. B vitamins play an important role in energy production and nervous system function. A B-complex can therefore be a way to support the body over time, making it easier to actually relax when the day is over.

Fuel her body

It may look like she runs on endless energy.
But no one is a superhuman, no matter how strong she is. She also needs to recharge.

The gut is a good place to start. How we feel there affects more than you might think, from energy to immune defense and hormone balance. Lactic acid bacteria, like those from Dr Formulated, can be an easy way to support balance.

Getting plenty of nutrition without it feeling like a project makes a big difference in everyday life. Powders of blueberries, pitaya, or wheatgrass are easy ways to get more antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. A smoothie or yogurt suddenly becomes a way to take care of yourself, without taking extra time.

Protein is another important part. It affects not only muscles but also satiety, blood sugar, and how steady energy feels throughout the day. An animal protein from whey, or a plant-based protein powder, like oat protein, can be a convenient way to get enough without having to think too much.

And maybe she already has the basics covered. Then it can be nice to give something extra. A supplement like Vimergy Brain Body Recharge combines several nutrients linked to energy, focus, and recovery, and can be an easy way to support the body over time.

Care when she creates life

Is she pregnant?
Then she is doing one of the most demanding things the body can go through. Every day.

While life continues around her, the body changes quickly, and the need for nutrition increases. What was enough before may no longer be sufficient, especially when the body not only has to take care of her but also support a new life that is growing.

Here it can be nice not to have to think about everything yourself. That someone else is on top of it.

A good prenatal, like Thorne Basic Prenatal, covers several important nutrients in one and can make everyday life a little easier.

Iron needs often increase during pregnancy, and a supplement like MaryRuth’s Prenatal Iron can be a gentle way to replenish when needed.

Omega-3 is also an important part, both for her and the baby. Opti3 provides DHA and EPA in an easily absorbed form and can be a nice complement to the diet.

And the stomach, which is often affected during pregnancy, may need a little extra support. Lactic acid bacteria developed for pregnant women, like those from Dr Formulated, can help maintain balance in the stomach, which is an important part of her well-being during a time when the body is doing everything for both her and the baby.

Think differently this year

It doesn’t have to be expensive or perfect.

But “it’s the thought that counts” is probably never as true as on Mother’s Day.
That’s exactly what she wants. Care.

Not the easiest thing to give,
without something she actually needs.

Something that makes her feel a little better, every day.
