Description
Celtic Sea Salt is a traditional, unprocessed sea salt that is harvested by hand and allowed to dry naturally in sun and wind. The gentle process allows the salt to retain its natural moisture and its content of minerals and trace elements.
Full-bodied and rustic flavour with a distinct saltiness
The salt has a slightly moist texture and a characteristic light grey colour that comes from the clay in the traditional salt ponds where it is harvested. The natural production process gives the salt a full-bodied and rustic flavour with a distinct saltiness. It naturally contains magnesium as well as several minerals and trace elements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Celtic Sea Salt contain iodine?
Celtic Sea Salt contains naturally occurring trace amounts of iodine. It contains approximately 0.68 parts per million. Although iodine is an important mineral, sea salt is not considered a significant source of it. However, sea salt is a natural, pure source of iodine that is quickly absorbed by the body.
Table salt labeled as containing iodine usually means that iodine has been chemically added to the salt, possibly using an artificial additive to bind the iodine to the salt. If you want more iodine, Celtic Sea Salt® Gourmet Seaweed contains added seaweed for natural iodine: approximately 350 mcg of iodine per ¼ tsp. Seaweed is a very good source of iodine.
What does Selina Naturally say about plastic in sea salt?
Several articles have circulated concerning plastic found in the oceans and sea salt. Here at Selina Naturally®, we have taken the extra step of testing our salt in response to the recently published "microplastic" publications. Starting in June 2017, we sent our Light Grey Celtic® salt to McCrone Associates, Inc. Laboratory for food and medical analysis and were pleased to see that the results were clear: "no rubber or plastic-like material was visible." We will continue to pursue the best testing methods to maintain the integrity you expect from our sea salt.
Can the salt go bad?
Celtic Sea Salt is a mineral, not an organic substance. Therefore, it does not go bad. On the contrary, salt is a natural preservative.
