There are plenty of organic hand creams available. The big question is what sets them apart and which one is the best? I have tested five really good hand creams that don't leave a sticky residue and are excellent to use during the day. All hand creams in this test meet the "non-sticky" criterion. This means they don't feel greasy or sticky afterwards, so you can immediately type on your computer or phone without that unpleasant sticky feeling.
Eco by Sonya Hand & Nail Cream – Mango Sea Buckthorn with Vitamin C, 75 ml
All Eco by Sonya products maintain such high quality that I suspected this hand cream would be something truly special. This is the most luxurious hand cream in this category. The scent, color, texture, and results together create an impressive wow factor. The hand cream provides maximum moisture and makes your hands soft and smooth instantly. When your skin is dry and tight after all that hand washing, it's almost a liberating pleasant sensation when you use hand cream. This hand cream gives exactly that pleasant sensation, but twice as intense. The skin becomes so smooth, relaxed, and calm, probably because the moisture saturates the deeper layers of the skin. Over time, both the hands and cuticles remain soft and intact. The mild scent is also absolutely heavenly with tropical fruit notes in harmony with the fresh bergamot. They haven't skimped anywhere. It may be the most liquid of all in this test, but definitely not watered down. The cream contains no water but has the moisture queen aloe vera juice as its base. This is accompanied by ingredients such as coconut oil, avocado oil, glycerin, shea butter, sea buckthorn oil, carrot seed oil, and mango butter.
Worth mentioning is that 100% of the profits go directly to vulnerable children in Kenya.
The only thing that brings down the rating is the packaging's large opening that doesn't work well with the somewhat runny consistency. It easily gets messy in the lid and you have to be careful when squeezing out the cream to avoid overdosing. A snap-on lid would have been desirable.
Eco Cosmetics Hand Cream – Echinacea and Grape Seed Oil, 125 ml
My favorite in this price range! You get a large tube of hand cream that is really good. The consistency is wonderfully creamy and smooth. It absorbs relatively quickly into the skin and provides both moisture and nourishment. The best part is that your hands stay moisturized for a long time without any stickiness. Perfect if you're a heavy user of hand creams or want to have a tube of hand cream here and there. What brings down the rating is the scent. It's the classic Eco Cosmetics fragrance (unisex and fresh) that feels a bit too strong for my nose.It doesn't fade quickly either. I prefer subtle or luxurious scents when it comes to hand creams. If we look at the ingredients, there are among others echinacea extract and glycerin that add moisture and soothe the skin. Squalane and coconut oil provide that smooth feeling and a touch of shea butter that locks in moisture in the skin without being sticky or messy. This is a very clever and fine balance of oils and extracts.
Dr Sanna Hand Cream – Colloidal Oats Linden Blossom, 75 ml
Dr Sanna maintains a consistently high standard on their products and this applies to their hand cream as well. It absorbs nicely and quickly and you become wonderfully smooth as expected. This provides the skin with a lot of moisture and keeps your hands moisturized for a long time. The cuticles also become nicer over time. I must say that in terms of results, it's quite similar to Eco by Sonya's hand cream. This is the kind of hand cream that strengthens the skin barrier so the skin can withstand weather exposure and frequent hand washing without cracking or flaring up with eczema. The mild notes of fresh linden blossom and bergamot fade quite quickly, which is a big plus. The packaging is neat despite its 75 ml size. The snap-on cap combined with the appropriately sized opening makes it easy to dispense. In terms of ingredients, the moisturizer glycerin ranks high on the list, which is good. Light oils like safflower seed oil and broccoli seed oil provide good moisturization and a smooth feeling. Innovative ingredients like probiotics, colloidal oats, and malic acid in the hand cream are impressive. The hand cream does a really good job, so there are only positive things to say about it.
A tube of i+m Freistil Sensitive hand cream. The product is fair trade, organic and vegan.
i+m Naturkosmetik – Sensitive Handcreme, 50 ml
I know that some people think this one is too mild, but this is a perfect daytime hand cream. i+m's freestyle series is specially developed for delicate, sensitive skin and for those who can't tolerate fragrant essential oils. Note that the hand cream has a subtle scent of real vanilla (vanilla contains no fragrance compounds that can irritate) that fades quickly. I know this one has saved many sensitive hands from cracking. The cream has a light consistency that absorbs quickly. It provides plenty of moisture without causing irritation. This is definitely the best choice if you have damaged and sensitive skin or have trouble finding a hand cream that you can tolerate. The packaging is completely unique. Hand creams usually have super sharp tube edges that completely destroy the inner lining of my bags or tear and rip up neighboring items in the bag. This hand cream has a neat packaging with a hygienic pump completely without sharp edges and is therefore my favorite go-to hand cream. The ingredients are of course kept as minimal as possible. The fewer ingredients, the less there is to react to for sensitive people. It contains moisturizers like aloe vera and glycerin, gentle and incredibly good oils like jojoba oil and almond oil. They've also enriched it with carrot extract. A very well-thought-out composition and overall product. Thumbs up for that!
Odylique – Lemon Butter Hand Smoothie, 60 ml
Odylique's products are aimed at everyone. Since the founders have eczema-prone skin, all products are also adapted for sensitive problem skin types. The hand cream is not runny but feels very moist on the skin. This absorbs lightning-fast into the depths and provides loads of moisture while making the skin smooth. The cream feels active and almost stimulating while the skin feels calmer. They describe themselves that the hand cream works moisturizing, soothing and protective, while also working anti-aging as it should brighten age spots and promote firmer skin.I don't have age spots yet so I can't comment on that, but it undoubtedly makes my hands less dry over time. The scent is absolutely wonderful with a distinct citrus fragrance and floral undertones. A scent that I associate with high-quality organic natural cosmetics. I have a certain fondness for Odylique so my opinion may be biased. I really like this one and think it works deep in the skin and the feeling is positively special. The formula absorbs at lightning speed and keeps my hands moisturized and luxuriously smooth for a long time, just that!Worth mentioning is that in addition to classic moisturizers, it contains antioxidant-rich oils, anti-aging sea buckthorn extract, and soothing aloe vera and calendula. The cream contains lactic acid which is excellent as it helps dead skin cells to shed and brightens any pigment spots. However, the lactic acid and fragrant essential oils can sting if you have damaged skin (such as with severe eczema). If you have problems with hand creams stinging, i+m's freestyle hand cream is preferable.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read the entire article! If you constantly moisturize your hands without good results, try changing your hand cream and/or soap. Also try scrubbing your hands so that dead skin cells don't become a barrier to your fantastic hand cream.
