Slime is a fun and simple craft that has become a major trend among children who enjoy experimenting. Many children make their own slime at home, and it's both easy and fun!

However, most recipes contain several questionable and unnatural ingredients. What about contact lens solution, glue, laundry detergent, shampoo, or shaving cream? Glue can contain allergenic preservatives or other substances that aren't permitted in toys. Some recipes also contain borax or boric acid, which is directly unsuitable for children to come in contact with. Borax can affect human fertility, among other things. Since playing with slime involves a lot of skin contact for children, we recommend using a non-toxic slime recipe with completely natural ingredients. This way, you can play around as much as you want without worrying about questionable ingredients, and it doesn't matter if your child accidentally gets a little slime in their mouth!

Here we offer two simple and completely natural DIY slime recipes!

1. Magical Slime

Ingredients:

  • 2 dl cornstarch

  • 1.5 dl cold water

  • 1-2 tsp Pink Pitaya (we used 2 tsp in the pictures)

Instructions:

  • Mix Pink Pitaya and cornstarch in a bowl.

  • Stir the water into the bowl. It may seem like the mixture becomes too thick, but work it with your hands for a while.

  • Add more water if you want a thinner mixture or more cornstarch if you find it's too thick. The slime behaves differently depending on its consistency, so it can be fun to experiment. The slime gets a fantastic vibrant pink color and a magical consistency! It's hard when you hold a lump in your hand, but when you continue holding it, the slime melts. A cozy and fun experience for both children and adults!

Tips!

Keep in mind that it can get messy and a bit sticky when playing with slime, so it's a good idea to use a placemat on the table. And consider wearing an apron or clothes that can get dirty, and wash your hands thoroughly afterward to remove all color from the Pink Pitaya. Pink Pitaya is a vibrant powder that can stain light-colored textiles.

2. Sticky Slime

Ingredients:

  • 3 dl water

  • 1.5 tbsp psyllium husk powder (different varieties available, make sure to use a finely ground one, we used Fiberhusk)

  • 1-2 tsp Pink Pitaya (we used 2 tsp in the pictures)

Instructions:

  • Whisk all ingredients together in a pot. Note! To avoid lumps in the slime, you should gradually whisk the psyllium husk powder into the water.

  • Place the pot on the stove and simmer the slime on low heat. Remember to stir continuously so it doesn't burn at the bottom!

  • The slime should simmer for about 5 minutes or until it pulls away from the sides of the pot. To get a slimier consistency, you can use a little less psyllium husk powder. This recipe gives a slightly thicker slime with a dark pink color! Good luck with your experimenting!
