I brought Odylique's Gentle Herb Shampoo into the store after a customer had requested it, and I didn't have any special expectations for the product. I have dark, thick Asian hair that is dry and unmanageable. After having seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp, my hair hasn't been the same.
Even though the seborrheic dermatitis has disappeared, I feel that my hair gets dirty/greasy quite quickly and I have to wash it more often than I used to. This despite using the same shampoo and conditioner. I've needed to wash my hair every other day instead of every 3-4 days. My scalp also gets slightly itchy if I wait too long between washes.
Day 1
My first look at the shampoo gave me a positive surprise. The shampoo looks like a thin hair conditioner. Despite this, it lathers a little, just enough to massage it into the hair and scalp. The shampoo felt so beneficial that I spent some time massaging my scalp with it. What a heavenly scalp experience! It was so pleasant and calming! I used more shampoo than usual, but that's not so strange considering the wonderful scalp massage. It was worth it. When the shampoo was rinsed out, my hair felt incredibly clean, perhaps a bit too clean as my hair had "high friction" just like a freshly washed plate.According to the shampoo bottle, the hair won't need a follow-up conditioner after using it for some time. However, I felt a strong need for conditioner. When my hair had dried, the strands were separated individually, instead of the unmanageable hair I had before that was more clumped in sections. My hair had a nice flow and was very fluffy, light, soft, and smooth. I felt like I was in a shampoo commercial, as my hair felt incredibly fresh and moved beautifully. My hair doesn't smell much, but I can detect a faint scent of herb garden and forest walk when putting my nose to my hair.
Day 2
Super fresh scalp and my hair feels newly washed. My hair is as beautiful as day 1 and smells just as fresh. My hair is usually thick and heavy, but now it feels strong, has volume (!), shine, and is incredibly smooth. Not a single sign of dry hair at all.
Day 3
My hair is the same as day 1 and 2. I am completely won over by the Gentle Herb Shampoo and often smell my hair. It still smells freshly washed and there's not a sign of grease or impurity anywhere. However, my scalp began to itch very slightly in the evening.
Day 4
My hair looks just as clean and shiny but the fresh scent has disappeared. The pleasant feeling in my scalp is almost completely gone.
Day 5
My hair is completely flat and it's time for a wash. This time the Gentle Herb shampoo lathered much more, so I didn't need to use as much. Additionally, my hair became so soft that conditioner was hardly necessary, but I played it safe and used a little conditioner anyway. Next time I don't think conditioner will be needed. I think I'm going to have a hard time switching shampoos. Odylique's Gentle Care Shampoo is completely superior, at least for my hair and scalp. If you're interested in trying it, the shampoo comes in a 20 ml tube for 39 kr.Perfect if you want to try it first. It's also available in 200 ml or 500 ml.
