Do you have dry skin or eczema? You're not alone. In this article, we share our best tips and products.

1. Eat Clean

Nutrition and our eating habits make the biggest difference for our health on all levels, including for our skin. This is perhaps something many people know by now, but it can also be one of the hardest things to change.

Foods that can be a trigger for eczema and skin problems

  • Dairy

  • Gluten and especially wheat

  • White sugar

  • Fried food

  • Artificial additives

Eat more of

  • Vegetables

  • Sprouts

  • Fermented vegetables

  • Fruits and berries

  • Healthy fats, such as various cold-pressed oils, extra virgin olive oil and avocado

  • Pumpkin seeds and other seeds

  • Chia seeds

2. Take Supplements

  • Probiotics can make a big difference for the skin, as the skin often reflects digestion, i.e., how the stomach is doing.

  • Vitamin D is another product that many people with eczema or other problem skin have gotten good results with. If you suspect vitamin D deficiency, take at least 2000 IU per day.

  • Zinc helps dry skin and problem skin.

  • Vitamin C supports collagen production, heals wounds, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Skin supplements are an interesting topic for those who want to improve their appearance from the inside out.

3. Add Moisture to Your Home

Dry home conditions can make skin and especially eczema worse, so you can benefit from using a humidifier at home.

4. Combat Stress

Stress is often a trigger for eczema and psoriasis. High cortisol levels (our stress hormones) worsen inflammation throughout the body, including in the skin.

Relaxation is the key

Be careful with large amounts of stimulants like coffee, tea, cocoa, and alcohol. If you have trouble relaxing in the evening, meditation, relaxation exercises, calming music, or magnesium drinks are excellent help.

5. Use Natural Products

Make sure your beauty, hygiene, and cleaning products are natural. If you have very sensitive skin, it can also be good to avoid fragrance in products even if they have natural content.

Moisturize your body daily

  • Pure Shea butter is a rich cream that has saved many people. If you think it's too greasy, you can mix it with an oil like evening primrose oil, especially for eczema and itching.

  • Magnesium lotion is a lotion that provides magnesium through the skin while simultaneously moisturizing the skin and counteracting flaking and problems.

  • Repair Lotion is a fantastic, organic, light lotion that has helped many people with eczema and even psoriasis.

  • There is also a repair lotion suitable for babies from 3 months of age and children.

  • Use Calendula ointment on problem areas with itching, irritation, and similar issues.

If you have very dry skin, it's good to

  • Shower in the evening and use a natural, mild soap. Usually, soap is only needed under the arms and on hands and feet; water is sufficient for the rest of the body.

  • Moisturize yourself afterward all over your body.

  • Moisturize yourself the following morning as well, but without showering.

6. A Day at the Beach with Sun

Many people with problem skin report that they improve when they get moderate sun exposure and bathe in a salt sea.

Bring the sea home with a DIY sea spray

Ingredients

  • 2.5 dl boiled water. Instead of boiled water, you can choose herbal tea as long as the tea is made from dried herbs. Chamomile tea works excellently for sensitive skin.

  • 1 tbsp Himalayan salt or sea salt.

  • 1 pinch Epsom salt.

How to make it

  • Add salt and Epsom salt to the warm water and stir until the salt is completely dissolved.

  • Store the solution in a glass jar or spray bottle. Apply to the skin by spraying, or if you are very sensitive, dab the solution on the skin with a cotton pad.
