Lucuma grows in the Oxapampa region of the Peruvian Andes. The fruit naturally falls to the ground when ripe and is allowed to remain there for several more days to develop its truly sweet and unique flavor. After a patient wait, the fruit is picked up, peeled, separated from its seeds, and dried before being ground into a fine fruit powder.
Lucuma "candy" recipe:
- 1 dl almond butter
- ½ dl coconut oil
- 2 tbsp lucuma powder
- 1 tsp vanilla powder
- 2 tbsp goji berries
- 1 tbsp cacao nibs
Mix everything together in a bowl. Shape into cubes and refrigerate for one hour.
