Where does America's Pink Salt come from?
During prehistoric times, there was an inland sea covering what is now Redmond in Utah, USA, known as the Sundance Sea. While this sea is gone, its remains exist as a large, undisturbed, underground salt deposit, and even though the salt is deep within the earth, it is actually sea salt. Redmond's mines are room and pillar mines, as opposed to open-pit mines, which reduces the impact of mining on the earth's surface. They are powered by solar energy from two solar fields, which reduces their carbon footprint. They also have a mine reclamation bond, so if the day comes when they close their mines, the land can be restored.
