Sport Berkey Water Bottle
The Sport Berkey is a portable water bottle that purifies water on the go. It's the perfect choice for those who want to take clean water with them while traveling, to work, or camping. The theory behind this innovation is simple. The sports bottle's filter is designed to reduce or remove many harmful contaminants from questionable water sources, including streams, lakes, and tap water.
About the filter: When the Berkey Sport bottle is squeezed, water is forced through the filter. The density and quality of the water determine the adsorption rate. The exposure time through the filter has been carefully calculated to provide the most significant volume separation of toxic chemicals and contaminants caused by industry and agriculture. It uses Berkey's proprietary "adsorption" media to promote ionic "uptake" of contaminants. The Sport Berkey's filter element features a "Tortuous Path" structure.
Refill Capacity:
Municipal water supply: approximately 640 refills (1378 liters). Water from questionable sources: approximately 160 refills (94 liters). The Sport Berkey filter is then easy to replace so you always have filtered water at hand.
Usage:
Pour water into the bottle and tighten the cap securely to eliminate leakage. Pull down the loop on the cap to extend the straw and squeeze the bottle. This will force the water through the filter and straw. Empty as much of the bottle as possible. Repeat this process twice. This process rinses manufacturing dust from the filter. After two flushes, rinse the bottle and cap.
Maintenance:
The Sport Berkey Portable Water Filter has a shelf life of 50 years.
Regular cleaning: Remove the filter from the bottle and straw and allow it to air dry. Clean the bottle and straw with warm water and mild, unscented dish soap. Let all parts air dry. When the filter is dry, replace it inside the bottle.
Cleaning when not using the bottle for an extended period: Remove the filter. Once the filter is removed, rinse the bottle with a 50/50 mixture of 3% hydrogen peroxide and water. Let all parts air dry before carefully reassembling them. If possible, seal the bottle in an airtight container.
Note: Do not let the filter freeze. Freezing can damage the filter and will require replacement.
However, you can place the bottle in the refrigerator if you desire cold water.
Note: The filter is not designed to filter water hotter than 35 degrees. Hot water can break down the element and compromise the filter, so we recommend first filtering the source water through the Sport Berkey and then boiling the filtered water for, e.g., your tea.
More about the filter:
The superior technology used in Sport Berkey portable water filter has been developed, refined, and improved through laboratory testing and field studies. The media in the water filtration element removes contaminants through the surface phenomenon called "adsorption".
Are you interested in a larger Berkey system?
Berkey water filter systems are available in several different models. Each Berkey model has been designed with a specific set of features in mind.
The most important factor to consider when deciding which size is best is how many people will be using the Berkey filter and how many liters of water need to be supplied. Also consider how the filter will be used - will the purified water be used only for drinking water, or will the system also be needed for hygiene and cooking. Do you need a lightweight plastic version or a stainless steel model? Finally, will the system be used for everyday use or only in emergency situations?
All models produce water of the same fine quality. The difference between the models is the amount of water they can produce per hour and the size of the storage container. The most popular model is the Big Berkey in stainless steel, and it is excellent for an average household.
Larger Berkeys can also accommodate more filter elements, which allows the system to produce water faster due to the higher flow rate.
Capacity: 650 ml.
Size: 28 cm high x 6.3 cm wide.
Material: The Sport Berkey Water Bottle is made of safe, non-leaching, BPA/BPS-free low-density polyethylene (LDPE recycling code #4). The lid is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE recycling code #2). The straw is made of polypropylene (recycling code #5). The number on the bottom of the bottle should not be confused with the recycling code. The bottom of the bottle will be marked with the molded number (mold number). It varies from 1 to 4. LDPE is used for the bottle due to its "squeeze properties". LDPE is a highly effective moisture barrier and is used.
often for bread bags, garbage/leaf bags, mustard and honey bottles etc.
