Organic Borage Oil - The Herb of Joy
What is it:
Borage oil (also known as starflower oil) is a dry, mild oil extracted from the plant's seeds. Borage oil is the best source of GLA and contains at least 20% of valuable GLA.
There is no other vegetable oil that contains this amount of GLA. GLA can also be found in evening primrose oil (approximately 10%), black currant seed oil (6%), and hemp seed oil (2.5%). GLA is an omega-6 fatty acid.
What does it do:
Borage oil is excellent for all types of skin concerns. It is easily absorbed by the skin and affects the skin at a deep level, helping it stay healthy and prevent premature aging.
Suitable for:
Excellent for most skin types, nourishes mature, wrinkled skin and provides radiance, also beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin. Can help with problem skin. Strengthens nails and hair.
Usage: External use: - apply to the skin, preferably mixed with another oil such as almond, avocado, hemp seed, rosehip, or apricot kernel oil. Can also be mixed with shea butter to soothe eczema. Internal use: - take 1/2 - 1 teaspoon daily with food for best absorption.
Note: Imbalances in the omega-6/omega-3 ratio may occur if therapeutic doses of GLA alone are given for many months without also taking EFA/DHA supplements (Omega 3) - in such cases, Omega 3 supplementation is also recommended.
Storage: Borage oil is a sensitive oil and should be stored in the refrigerator. Note: Once opened, the bottle should be consumed within 4 months. The oil should not be heated.
