Epsom Salt for External Use
Epsom salt helps relieve muscle tension and body aches during bathing. When magnesium sulfate is absorbed through the skin, for example during a bath, it reduces swelling, helps muscles relax, acts as a natural moisturizer, and much more. It can even help combat jet lag. Epsom salt is often recommended by physiotherapists and sports injury specialists.
Dosage for full body bath: Use 3 dl (about 1.25 cups) - up to 1 liter of Epsom salt in a warm bath. Don't use soap in the bath as it counteracts the salt's effect. Preferably don't shower afterwards, but let the skin air dry.
Dosage for skin compress: Use 1-2 dl (about 0.4-0.8 cups) of Epsom salt per liter of warm water. The salt can also be used for compresses on sore muscles, etc. Soak a towel in the salt solution and place it on the skin. Let it work for about half an hour. Can be repeated several times per day. If you have very sensitive skin, proceed with caution and test gradually.
Dosage for body scrub: Mix 1 part organic body oil with two parts salt and approximately 10-20 drops of essential oil (if you want fragrance). Store in an airtight glass jar. You can then keep it by the bath and enjoy it whenever you want as a body scrub or bath salt.
