Black Seed Oil is extracted from the plant's fruits, which are capsules containing seeds. Black Seed Oil or Nigella Oil has traditionally been used as both a beauty oil and culinary oil in Arabic, African, and Asian countries.

The main active ingredient in black seed oil is crystalline nigellone. Black cumin seeds contain over 100 substances. The seed contains beta sitosterol, thymoquinone, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, arachidonic acid, proteins and vitamins B1, B2 and B3. They also contain calcium, folic acid, iron, copper, zinc and phosphorus. The oil can be taken internally or used externally.
