Castor Oil
Castor oil is a unique product containing almost 90 percent ricinoleic acid. Such a high concentration is rare - these unsaturated fatty acids make castor oil extremely nourishing for the skin. Castor oil is not easily absorbed by the skin, which makes it excellent for massage oils, as a cleansing oil, or as a rich hair oil, see below.
Benefits:
- Nourishes very dry skin.
- Perfect for massage. The oil is particularly pleasant when warmed before massage, providing excellent relief for tired muscles. Works well when blended with other oils for massage.
- Gives hair shine and luster.
- Promotes hair growth.
- Heals scalp problems such as infections.
- The oil also works well as a facial cleanser, pigmentation treatment oil, and nail oil.
Dosage/How to use: Apply undiluted to the skin or use in hair.
Castor Oil for Hair: Castor oil is most commonly used today in the hair and scalp, as well as on hair ends, eyelashes, and eyebrows to stimulate hair follicles for better hair growth, shine, and fuller hair.
Massage into the scalp and then work through to the hair ends. Leave it in for about 30 minutes before washing out, recommended to do 1-3 times per week. The viscous oil can be difficult to wash out, and you often need to shampoo twice. You can also gently warm the oil before applying it to your hair for better results. You can excellently mix 1/3 castor oil with 1/3 jojoba oil and 1/3 coconut oil in a clean bottle/jar to create your own hair oil, to which you can add essential oil for fragrance if desired.
Castor oil for face: The oil can also be used as a calming facial cleanser.
Castor oil for massage: An excellent massage oil that is best used warm on stiff body parts.
