GEO Garden Cress Seeds
Garden cress is rich in vitamin C and has a strong, spicy taste. The mineral content is similar to other sprouts, but it also contains a small amount of iodine. This type of sprout is best grown on a sprouting tray.
How to sprout?
1. Soaking:
"Mucilaginous" seeds - such as arugula, chia, cress, and mustard only need to be soaked for about 5-15 minutes. Cress seeds are mucilage-forming and must be grown in a thin layer, preferably on a growing tray.
2. Rinsing:
Make sure to spread the seeds evenly on the tray so they don't stick together in layers. Water them once a day until the first baby shoots appear, then increase to 2-3 times a day. Use only the amount of water needed to keep them moist, not too much. They should not be in constant contact with water; instead, after soaking, they should make do with the liquid in the gel that forms during soaking. Additional water can be sprayed using a spray bottle once a sprout has developed.
3. Placement of sprouting tray:
Protect the seeds from sunlight until the first leaves appear. The sprouts are ready after approximately 5 days.
4. Harvest:
The sprouts are ready to harvest after approximately 5-6 days. After one round of sprouting, wash everything and let it air dry.
Storage: If the sprouts are not to be eaten immediately, they can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and should be rinsed before each time you want to eat them.
Seed Storage: dry, cool and dark.
Using Sprouts: Sprinkle over salads, in soups, in wraps, on sandwiches or in any kind of food.
