How to sprout?
- Soaking:
Rinse the jar, strainer, and seeds thoroughly under running water. Measure the correct amount of seeds (the amount varies between different seed types). Place the seeds in the jar and cover them with cold water. Let stand. Check the seed package for how long the seeds should be soaked, it's usually 6-8 hours.
- Rinsing:
Unscrew the lid and rinse with cold water. The more thoroughly you rinse, the better the conditions for the seeds to sprout. After rinsing, tilt the sprouting jar and strainer so that all water drains away. It's important to water and rinse twice a day.
- Placement of the sprouting jar:
Place the sprouting jar in a warm (18-22 degrees), bright location but not in direct sunlight. Shake the sprouts regularly to separate them. Prevent the accumulation of excess water and moisture.
- What to look for:
After a couple of days, you will see small shoots forming - this is the beginning of sprouting. You may notice small white fibers on the shoots. This is completely normal but can easily be mistaken for mold at first glance. Mold has a musty smell and looks like gray fur, not the same thing.
- Harvesting:
The sprouts are ready to harvest after approximately 3-5 days (see seed package). After one sprouting cycle, wash both the jar and lid and let them air dry. The lid is dishwasher safe. We recommend rinsing the sprouts before eating them.
Storage: If the sprouts are not to be eaten immediately, they can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and should be rinsed before each time you want to eat them.
Using sprouts: Sprinkle over salads, in soups, in wraps, on sandwiches, or in any kind of food.
