How to Sprout?
1. Preparation:
Rinse your new sprouting tower in cold water. Do not dry the inside of the sprouting container. Rinse the seeds thoroughly under running water or let them soak, follow the instructions on the sprouting packet.
2. Sowing:
Distribute the seeds according to the guidelines specified on the seed packet. Make sure the seeds are not too densely packed. You can sprout seeds on just one shelf or on multiple shelves simultaneously.
3. Watering:
Water each shelf separately. Rinse the sprouts thoroughly that haven't yet started sprouting. Any excess water will drain down to the bottom plate. Make sure no excess water remains in the container.
Depending on the growing conditions, the maturation process may vary from what is stated on the seed packet. Sprouts that have developed and gained a clear, shiny surface only need to be sprayed with fresh water.
4. Light:
Place the sprouting tray in a bright location but not in direct sunlight.
5. Temperature:
The ideal temperature range is between 18-22 degrees. Higher or lower temperatures can either extend or shorten the sprouting time.
6. Harvest:
Depending on the type of seed planted, room temperature, light availability, and each seed's specific needs, you can harvest sprouts within 3-8 days. To harvest - gently pull up the sprouts so that you don't damage the roots.
7. Cleaning:
When all sprouts have been harvested, the sprouting tray must be thoroughly washed. The sprouting tray is dishwasher safe, but we recommend placing it in the upper rack of the dishwasher, as more heat is generated in the bottom of the dishwasher.
8. Things to keep in mind:
The seeds will not sprout if:
-the seeds are placed too close together.
-the seeds are not rinsed thoroughly.
-room temperature is too high or too low, optimal temperature is between 18-22 degrees.
Unfavorable conditions, such as too much water around the seeds, wrong temperature, or amount of light can lead to mold growth. Mold has a musty smell and should not be confused with the thin roots that may form.
Using sprouts: Sprinkle over salads, add to soups, wraps, sandwiches or any type of food.
