Organic Gyokuro Tea
Gyokuro, or "jade dew" in Japanese, is one of Japan's most esteemed green teas. The harvesting of this "spring tea" is always eagerly anticipated in Japan. The buds and first leaves are harvested in spring, offering the richest and most subtle flavor notes.
20 days before harvest, the tea plants are shaded from direct sunlight. The leaves' green color intensifies, their flavor becomes richer, and their levels of L-Theanine and other beneficial compounds multiply. The result is a very green, delicious, and healthy tea that is harvested in spring when it has the highest content of vitamins and minerals. Gyokuro has a fresh, full-bodied, sweet taste with hints of the ocean.
Preparation: Mix about 1 teaspoon in a large cup or three teaspoons in a teapot. The ideal water temperature is 50-75°C (there are different opinions about the best temperature) - let it steep for about 1-2 minutes. If you let it steep too long or use water that's too hot, it can become bitter.
