Himalayan salt is an untreated, unrefined salt with a light pink color. The salt is about 230 million years old and has formed fine crystals through pressure. A natural salt full of trace elements and minerals, especially rich in magnesium. This is a good salt instead of white table salt. Wonderful for cooking, body scrubs, in the bath, for nasal rinsing, etc. This is fine-milled Himalayan salt – 500 grams.
Himalayan Salt
Himalayan crystal salt is a rock salt from Pakistan rich in minerals and trace elements. White table salt is often chemically cleaned using aggressive techniques, thus stripped of beneficial nutrients. Rock salts are found as salt deposits in mountains where oceans existed millions of years ago. Rock salt is mined from salt mines found in various locations around the world.
Himalayan crystal salt comes from Pakistan and contains minerals not found in regular "table salt" and contains very little iodine (approx. 5 µg/100g). Rock salt from Pakistan and northern India gets its pink/red color from the iron compounds it contains. Rock salt from other locations may also have a yellow or sometimes blue tint due to different minerals.
How do I use the salt?
- You can use it in regular cooking.
- You can use it in your nasal rinse pot.
- You can use it as a bath salt, it is very cleansing, stimulating and has a relaxing effect on the entire organism. Dissolve 300-500 g of salt in the water and bathe for 20 minutes, let your body air dry.
- You can use it as a body scrub. Mix 1 part organic body oil and two parts salt and about 20 drops of essential oil (if you want fragrance). Store in an airtight glass jar. You can then keep it in the shower and enjoy a wonderful body scrub whenever you want.
- Salt and honey also makes a fantastic variation. Simply drizzle the honey over the salt in a small bowl and apply to your body, wait a moment and rinse.
- You can use it in your foot bath. Mix 1 dl salt with 15 drops of essential oil. Stir and add everything to the water.
