The Maunawai® PI®PRIME K8 countertop filter is a gravity water filter that operates according to five principles: filtration, information, optimization, harmonization, and biological availability. Maunawai has been a leader in electricity-free water filtration systems for many years and manufactures them in Germany.
The Hawaiian word "Maunawai" means "mountain water," which is exactly what the MAUNAWAI® filter does: it transforms your tap water into mountain water.
This technology was developed 60 years ago in Japan, designed to turn tap water into premium drinking water. By applying the five principles - filtration, information, optimization, harmonization, and biological availability - the water becomes not only pure but also restructured.
It removes chlorine, multiple heavy metals, uranium, pesticides, nitrates, hormones, and pharmaceutical residues from water. Additionally, the water regains its original cluster structure and can thus be optimally absorbed.
The Maunawai filter is a multi-stage filtration system:
The ceramic pre-filter is a preparatory filter that handles any residues in tap water. It filters out dust, rust, and other suspended substances or sediments. With a pore size of only 0.2 μm, the ceramic is so fine that bacteria cannot pass through it. This provides effective protection against all types of bacteria.
The heart of the water filtration system is the multi-layered Premium PI®-filter cartridge (see image):
I. Activated carbon from coconut shells. High-tech manufacturing process of high quality and excellent performance. The activated carbon in the PremiumPI® filter cartridge removes pesticides, heavy metals, and many other contaminants. II. Ceramic PI® balls, PI® and tourmaline ceramics. These release trace minerals and cause the water to form natural small clusters. The tourmaline ceramics act as a catalyst and help the ceramic PI® balls to work with the water. III. Quartz and coral sand. These have a natural positive charge and reorganize the water's structure, fulfilling the same function as a natural water stream would in nature. This step improves the water's taste. The corals provide energy and maintain the water's pH value within the ideal range.
IV.a. Zeolite elements and magnets. These help improve the taste and "energize" the water. Zeolites function as highly porous biocatalysts, absorbing parts of molecules, they can store toxic substances such as arsenic and ammonium, and enhance the function of the PI® ceramics. IV.b. "Magic Ball" type bioceramics and Alcalina bioceramic products. These reduce the size of cluster structures in tap water. Additionally, the Alcalina bioceramics make the pH value more alkaline. V. EM ceramics and calcium. The EM ceramics were developed by Professor Higa. The EM ceramics contain the energy signature of effective microorganisms, which are successfully used worldwide in agriculture, dietary supplements, and many other areas.
Calcium stabilizes the relationship between calcium and magnesium in the water and restores the water's natural balance.
VI. The filter system's special outlet valve. At the end of its journey, the water passes through a magnetic field in the tap that "organizes" the water molecules. This also has the well-known effect of descaling the water, which means a change in the physical structure. The lime that is "suspended" in the water tends to stick less to the container walls. At the end of the filtration and percolation process, the result is soft and healthy water, just like from a mountain spring.
Capacity:
The upper filter tank holds up to 4 liters. The drinking water container below is made of mouth-blown glass and holds up to 8 liters.
How often should filters be replaced?
Depending on water quality, it is recommended to replace the ceramic PIPRIME filter after one year. However, you should replace the filter if holes appear in the ceramic filter. If you filter water of lower quality than average, the filter capacity can be significantly reduced due to sediment removal.
The PIPRIME® filter cartridge should be replaced every 8-12 months or after 3000 liters of water have been filtered.
The lime filter pads should be replaced every 4-8 weeks, depending on water quality.
