After use, remove the cup, empty it into the toilet, wash it, and sterilize it in boiled water. You typically need to empty it 2-4 times per day. Your menstrual cup should be boiled before the first use. After that, the cup should be boiled once a month - it doesn't matter whether this is before or after your period.
Over time, your menstrual cup will become discolored due to the hemoglobin present in blood. If you rinse the cup in cold water before washing it, you'll reduce the risk of discoloration, and you can gently scrub the cup with the yellow side of a kitchen sponge and some soap to remove stains. You can also turn the cup inside out to clean it more effectively. The discoloration does not affect the cup's functionality.
