Description
Omega MM900 Slow Masticating Celery Juicer
Omega MM900 is a slow juicer that is particularly suitable for making celery juice, but also for making other juices from fruit, vegetables, and wheatgrass. Because of the low speed juicer, more vitamins, minerals and enzymes will remain. A minimal amount of oxygen is mixed in and the oxidation happens more slowly.
What are the benefits of Omega MM900 Juicer?
Optimised for celery: “Precision Extraction” is a function optimised for celery, which provides maximum extraction. Simply more juice and less waste.
It comes with an adjustable end cap, specially designed for celery juice. A standard end cap is also included, which makes the juice machine suitable for all types of fruit and vegetables. It squeezes delicious juices from e.g. citrus fruits, apples, berries, grapes, herbs and other vegetables. And it is also suitable for making wheatgrass juice.
Cold-pressed slow juicer: To provide gentle extraction, Omega Juicers uses low-speed extraction, only 80 rpm, which keeps the temperature very low. In addition, the low speed means that very little oxygen is mixed with the freshly squeezed juice, which otherwise can cause oxidation and greatly reduces the nutritional value of the finished juice.
Powerful: Quiet but powerful engine with gear reduction corresponding to 2 hp (horsepower) engine. This means that you can use the juicer in the morning without worrying about waking up the whole family.
Easy to use: The juicer has a large chute so that you can spend less time preparing before pressing. It has an extra large feeding compartment and a built-in handle for increased convenience.
Easy to clean: Easy to clean with relatively few parts to wash.
Why “only” a 200 W motor?
It may sound contradictory that a 200 W motor can be efficient when most juice machines on the market have an output of over 500 W. The high-watt models that usually tear / spin the vegetables and the fruit make juice quickly and grind everything. But the advantage of the slow speed is that minimal heat is formed (i.e. vitamins, minerals and enzymes survive) and maximum juice is extracted from the fibers and cell membranes. You will notice this on the clear difference between the juice and the dry residual material that remains.
Here is some information about the Omega Juicer MM900 that is useful to know:
Assembly:
- When assembling for juicing follow the picture in the instruction manual on page 5. Start with the lowest number 1, then 2, 3 ,4 ,5 ,6 ,7. Otherwise the hole in the press housing can be damaged and the press roll will rub against the yellow ring and cracks around the ring can occur.
- Special information about the celery end cap; if this is temporarily removed it needs to be placed in the same way again, i.e. with the flat surface facing upwards. See picture at other pictures.
Other information about juicing:
- You need to juice with patience, slowly, otherwise it can go too fast and it must not get too hot in the press house.
- Do not overfill the feed tube. Feed the celery slowly so that the machine keeps up, one stalk at a time. Let most of the juice drain out before pushing in a new stalk. You can also use the reverse mode if you see clumping.
- Then it’s a good idea for the celery to be cold and have been in the fridge just before. Another factor in yield is the quality of the celery, which varies throughout the year in different countries.
- The setting of the endcap is important, start by turning the endcap clockwise so that it is stuck on the “adjustable endcap”, then the resistance for the fibres to come out is lowest. If you want to increase the extraction of the juice, you can gently turn the celery endcap counterclockwise and then increase the resistance for the fibers to come out. But this makes the press house hot so be careful, if it gets too hot in the press house the celery endcaps can deform.
Fiber pulp:
- In our experience, it’s hard to get past some “pulp” with any juicer. But there are two ways that might be worth trying if you want to get a little less fiber left:
(a) Turn on the reverse for a little while and then run forward again, after you’re done. This will give the last fibres a chance to go through.
b) Feed some of the fibres that have already come out the top back in, so that they go through a second time.
This is included in the package (please see picture):
- 1 juice cone
- 1 juice bowl
- 1 bowl that catches the residual mass
- 1 cleaning brush
- 2 adjustable end caps
NOTE: Special information about the celery end cap; if this is temporarily removed, it needs to be placed in the same way again, i.e. with the flat surface upwards. See picture next to the other pictures.
