Reishi Extract in Powder Form
Reishi has been used in China and East Asia for over 2000 years. In these regions, this mushroom is considered an absolute "elite herb" on par with Ginseng, Goji, and Schisandra. The red Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) is an adaptogenic herb.
Adaptogens are herbs/plants that work to increase the body's ability to adapt to various forms of physical, mental, chemical, or biological stress and changing situations.
Since this is already an extract, you can simply enjoy it directly in tea, smoothies, hot chocolate, or coffee. If you buy a powder that is not an extract, you must first brew it as tea or make your own extract to benefit from the beneficial compounds.
Adult Dosage: 1/2 teaspoon 1-2 times per day in hot water, chocolate, coffee, smoothie, or other beverage.
Recommended dosage should not be exceeded. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet. Store in a dry place and keep out of reach of children.
Contraindications:
1. High doses of reishi have a blood-thinning effect and should be avoided by people with certain bleeding disorders, thrombocytopenia (coagulation problems), two weeks before surgery, and those taking medication for high blood pressure as well as anticoagulant and blood-thinning medications.
2. Reishi appears to worsen low blood pressure in those who have issues with it.
3. There is not enough reliable information about the safety of reishi consumption during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
