Spirulina is a freshwater microalgae. It is called blue-green algae, thanks to the presence of chlorophyll and phycocyanin. Chlorophyll is what makes plants green and is known to help with tissue growth and repair, to have antioxidant properties, and to optimize the body's absorption of many vitamins and minerals.
Spirulina provides a broad spectrum of nutrients with many benefits and is highly bioavailable. Spirulina contains protein (all essential amino acids), carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins (except C and D), gamma-linolenic acid, chlorophyll, phycocyanin, and antioxidants. It is a complete protein and easily digestible for the body.
Adult dosage: Take 1 tsp 1-4 times per day in a glass of water, coconut water, in smoothie, in dressing, or in any other way. Start with a smaller dose and build up to a consumption that feels right for you. We use it ourselves in smoothies, sauces, dressings, soups, etc.
