Wild Siberian Chaga (Sprängticka)
Chaga (Sprängticka) is a highly prized tree fungus that has long been used in traditional Siberian, Korean, Chinese, Northern European, and Scandinavian herbal medicine. It grows wild in old forests in the colder regions of Northern Asia and Northern Europe. The ultimate chaga is said to come from subarctic Siberian birch forests, which is where this Dragon Herbs product originates.
What is the difference between chaga powder and chaga extract?
Well, Chaga belongs to the tree fungus family. It has a structure that is practically impossible for our digestion to extract anything from in its raw form. Extract powder (as in these capsules) is already transformed so you can simply mix and enjoy it in, for example, a cup of hot tea or in a smoothie. If you buy a powder that is not an extract, you must first brew it as tea or make your own extract.
Dragon Herbs Chaga is extracted using a special controlled extraction technique. Both water and alcohol are used in the extraction process, and as a result, all bioactive components in the Chaga remain intact. It took considerable effort to perfect this Chaga extraction. Dragon Herbs spent several years testing various extraction methods before arriving at this highest quality product with optimal levels of active components.
Hot water extracted Chaga's antioxidant activity has been compared with other medicinal mushrooms (Agaricus blazei Mycelium, Ganoderma lucidum and Phellinus linteus) by Japanese researchers, and it was found that Chaga has the strongest antioxidant activity among those studied. Chaga consists of two visually distinguishable parts: black (mainly outside) and orange-brown (mainly inside). The "black" part is rich in melanin.
About Chaga:
Chaga is an adaptogenic mushroom and is often called the "King of Mushrooms". One of the body's most important antioxidants is an enzyme called SOD (superoxide dismutase). Chaga contains the highest proportion of SOD among all known foods, which explains its high ORAC value (antioxidant value).
Chaga also naturally contains vitamins, minerals, trace elements, polysaccharides, betulinic acid, melanin, phytonutrients, ergosterol, beta-glucans, saponins, sterols, triterpenes, and amino acid complexes.
Adult Dosage: Chaga is safe to consume and can be used daily in moderate amounts. A dose of 1 capsule 1-3 times per day usually works for most people to maintain general good health. Take with a little water; it's also excellent to open the capsules and make hot tea.
Contraindications:
1. Chaga may increase bleeding risk in people taking blood-thinning medications. 2. Chaga may increase the risk of hypoglycemia in diabetics taking insulin.
Recommended dosage should not be exceeded. Dietary supplements should not be used as an alternative to a varied diet. Store in a dry place and keep out of reach of children.

Traditional Function in Chinese Medicine: Tonifies Qi and Shen*.
*In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), they speak of "The 3 Treasures" as central concepts for our well-being - a long and happy life.
The 3 Treasures are:
Jing - our original energy.
Qi - the energy that circulates and is used in daily life.
Shen - our soul or "wisdom mind".
When these three are strong and in harmony, it is said that a person is in "health beyond danger" and is on the path to living a long, wise, and happy life. This is the foundation, according to Taoists, for expressing our full potential as human beings.
One way to understand this is to compare our being to a candle;
Jing is the wax itself - the foundational energy that nourishes the other two.
Qi is the wick - that which makes it possible for the light to burn.
Shen is the light or flame itself; that which illuminates, spreads light and warmth around, and determines how brightly it burns.**
