Benzoin Resin from Laos
Benzoin is harvested in Southeast Asia and was already known in the Middle East during ancient times. This demonstrates how long the trade of these valuable aromatic ingredients has been ongoing.
It is said to provide physical and mental relaxation. It is an important aroma in many spiritual contexts where it is valued for its ability to enhance prayers. This resin is traditionally used to cleanse "negative energies" from a space.
How to use it?
Benzoin from Laos is best used in a blend with other resins. To release the fragrance, it should be heated in an aroma lamp or burned on glowing charcoal.
In an aroma diffuser / aroma lamp (see image):
Fill the bowl to 2/3 with sand. Light the candle and place your resin blend on the sand. For a gentler emission, you can replace the sand with water and make sure to refill before it evaporates completely, so the blend doesn't burn.
The fragrance is released after a few minutes, when the sand or water reaches a warmer temperature.
Contents: This resin is extracted from Laos benzoin, which is harvested from the Styrax Tonkinensis plant. It flows as a white latex in the bark. It then solidifies into brittle flakes and becomes orange-colored with white sections when broken.
Manufacturing occurs through gummosis of the trunk, sap harvesting, sap curing, production of resin pieces through crushing, grinding, sifting, and finally packaging.
