Organic Brazil Nuts

The Brazil nut tree, which can live for 1000 years and grow up to 40 meters tall, produces seeds that fall to the ground as whole nuts. The tree grows wild in the Amazon, which means the nuts are completely free from pesticides.

Beneath the shell, the nuts have a thin, brown membrane that contains polyphenols with antioxidants. The nut is one of the largest nuts available and from a nutritional perspective, they contain significant amounts of protein, zinc, magnesium, healthy fats, and the highest selenium content of all nuts. Brazil nuts have a relatively strong, rich flavor.

Usage: Brazil nuts can be eaten directly or can be chopped and mixed into porridge or yogurt. They can be blended into Brazil nut milk which can be consumed strained or unstrained.

Brazil nuts contain high levels of selenium, so you should not eat too many per day or too frequently. Tip: Banana and Brazil nut pancakes: blend bananas and Brazil nuts into a batter, then dry overnight in a dehydrator or conventional oven at low temperature. Delicious with berries and maple syrup.
