My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (00:00)
Hello and welcome to another seminar with us at Glimja. My name is My, and I’m part of Glimja’s communications team. Just like my other colleagues at Glimja, I’m a dedicated health enthusiast. I’m also a trained health coach myself. But these conversations are, of course, about the fantastic health experts and coaches we work with.
Today I have Anna-Karin Schödin with me. Anna-Karin has an impressively broad perspective on health. Among other things, she helps her clients through nutritional counseling, yin yoga, and psychic guidance. She works in Ekerö, Stockholm, where she also organizes in-person women’s circles. So exciting! But of course, you also see clients online.
What we’ll be talking about today is chronic pain. We’ll shed light on perspectives that may not be well known to everyone. We’ll talk a little about what the pain may be caused by, how it can be alleviated, and perhaps even how to get rid of it entirely on your own without strong medications. But before we get started, it’s important to say that what we’re discussing here today is intended as inspiration and education, not as a replacement for traditional medical care involving diagnosis and treatment when that is actually needed.
What I’m thinking about with today’s conversation and the way you work, Anna-Karin, is that we’ll also discuss this from the perspective of a man named Anthony William, also known as Medical Medium. And what we’ll be talking about today is based on, or should we say...
We share his theories, perspectives, and recommendations. And then we’ll share some of our own reflections on them. Would you perhaps like to start by introducing yourself, Anna-Karin, and telling us a little about your journey and how you came to be where you are today with your pain?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (02:18)
Hello everyone. It really started in 2015. I completely burned out. Exhaustion depression. It was also after ceremonies with ayahuasca that I became so ill. But stress was also a major cause.
I had neurological exhaustion, adrenal fatigue and brain fog. These are things I diagnosed myself with retrospectively, after receiving care. At the time, they diagnosed me with exhaustion depression. I had chronic pain and chronic headaches for many years. I searched the entire market, the holistic market, to get rid of my pain, quite simply. I saw a homeopath. I found a homeopath who made things temporarily better. But it was only when I found Medical Medium, Anthony Williams's information, through friends - one of whom had symptoms similar to mine and the other was also interested in health. We all had the books at home on our bookshelves.
But it is like this: you do not always find it; it can be right in front of you, and you need to understand that it really can help you. That insight came through friends as well. And when I started reading the books, I felt a sense of relief too, that here I could get help. But I also understood that it would take a long time, because the nervous system takes three to five years to heal. In my case, it was the nervous system, chronic headaches and migraines, and it was probably also a major part of my problems caused by radiation. I was sensitive, became sensitive to radiation, and became electrically hypersensitive, as it is also called.
I have healed from these symptoms, and it took time. I followed it very strictly for five and a half years. I had previously come from Hippocrates. Green juices were nothing new to me. When I understood the things I needed to remove in order to go deeper into my healing, I did so in one day and also removed fat and salt to enhance the healing, quite simply. So for many people, it can be a very drastic or extensive dietary change, depending on where they are starting from.
It is usually the case that people who are chronically ill are very motivated. In my case, I felt that this isn't a life, this isn't any quality of life - chronic headaches, and at first I also had difficulty sleeping at night.
And it tightened, the whole nervous system, the fight-or-flight musculature, and it tightened in my chest, tightened in my arms and the insides of my thighs, and I became extremely sensitive to sound. I had to travel with hearing-reducing, that is, noise-isolating headphones, and I often used these Happy Ears earplugs to block out the loud noise.
In yin yoga, at the gym, which played a major part in the healing because it allows the nervous system to relax, and recovery is also important when you are under such deep stress and the nervous system is under such strain. But it has been a very educational journey, and I am so grateful that I found this information and can now help others. I have gone through the journey myself, and I also know what it is like. I have experienced severe lows in connection with my period as well. There were fairly clear suicidal thoughts without being suicidal, as they say.
But I wasn't suicidal, though I noticed the thoughts were coming. And it has a lot to do with the adrenal glands, their condition, and also the brain, since we need glucose when it comes to depression. So it was wonderful to understand the real causes behind it, the physical causes of mental well-being.
I was someone who lived a very active life and did too much at the time. I didn't listen to my body's signals and pushed myself too hard, which is quite common.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Health Coach Glimja (07:52)
Exactly, it has been normalized. You don't reflect on it because everyone else does it. That doesn't always mean it works for you. Maybe it doesn't work for others either, but nevertheless, it is so common that people just keep going anyway.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (08:08)
Yes, a performance-driven society, so burnout is also common there, and there are different levels of severity, and so on. That is why it is helpful to understand this distinction between neurological exhaustion and adrenal fatigue. There are different types of exhaustion.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Health Coach Glimja (08:28)
Just like everything else in the body that needs to heal, and the body as a whole, it is an entire system. It is complex. We need to approach it from different angles and take several different things into consideration, as you say, including the nervous system and nutrition. So much needs to work together. That brings us naturally back to today's topic. We are going to talk about chronic pain and, as mentioned, some slightly unexpected perspectives on it. With that in mind, I'd love for you to return to what you started talking about regarding the nervous system and how it affects pain, what role it plays in the whole picture.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (09:13)
Exactly. According to Anthony William, pain is caused by viruses, various viruses, primarily Epstein-Barr but also different herpesviruses. These viruses produce neurotoxins, which irritate and inflame the nerves.
And it can cause aches, nerve pain, migraines, numbness, and tingling. It can cause fibromyalgia-like pain. And fatigue as well. So there is a very wide range of symptoms you can experience. And it has to do with the fact that they are viruses and they feed...
Some people live on certain foods that Anthony William calls No Foods, troublemaker foods, and by excluding those foods, you begin this journey of starving them out. You exclude certain foods and then also consume healing foods, primarily the morning routine with lemon water, celery juice, and a heavy metal detox smoothie that work together to first rehydrate the body, then flush out viruses and pathogens, and also carry out these viruses that are stored in the brain and liver and various other places. It carries them out. It contains barley grass juice powder, spirulina, dulse, and then cilantro and blueberries, specifically a particular variety of blueberries that is very healing.
And you have fantastic products there that you, Glimja, have manufactured and developed according to the same principles as Vimergys. And these are the kinds of products Anthony William recommends.
Because it is a clean manufacturing process. According to certified regulations as well, so that the products, or the quality as well - he guarantees the quality, you could say, with Vimergys. But you use the same manufacturing process. We are very grateful for that, because Vimergys products are very expensive. It's good that there are alternatives so that many people can afford them.
These smoothies are fantastic for the body. Especially at the beginning, I noticed how they were working. I became completely exhausted. I had to rest after consuming the smoothies. You can feel how potent they are.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (12:27)
I'm thinking, as you said, about this troublemaker food - gluten, white flour, sugar, dairy products. Many people are aware that these can cause some problems in the body, and they are often the first things people are advised to avoid if they have some health issues and want to get their stomach under control, especially, but also rashes and so on. But is there anything else he advises against? I mean in terms of diet. What is this troublemaker food?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (13:07)
There are different levels. In my case, I went all in and removed everything he recommended. There are seven levels. The first level is eggs, dairy products, gluten. Then there are fermented products. Different kinds of vinegar. Fermented vegetables.
Sugar, salt, MSG.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (13:44)
Can you explain what MSG is for those who aren't familiar with the abbreviation?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (13:48)
Exactly, it's glutamate and flavorings. And then also preservatives, and then soy, corn. I think I got almost everything. And then there's also pork, tuna, shrimp, and so on. A lot of heavy metals in that kind of thing. But then he...
As for meat, there is no such thing; some people mean pork and lamb, and so on. But he does not say that you should not eat meat; he addresses vegans as well as meat eaters, and so on. And then, if you want to increase healing, that is when it is important to...
For me, I noticed that when I started eating fat-free and salt-free, there was a major change in the healing process. But then there is also the fact that... We are all different in terms of how sensitive we are. It is good to have guidance along the way, from someone who is experienced with this specifically, and knows how to proceed. Sometimes the cleansing can also be too intense, so you feel the effects. It can also trigger an adrenaline surge that affects us when we cleanse the body. It can become too sensitive and difficult for the nervous system.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (15:36)
How so? It sounds like you think it is a good thing to cleanse the body and go through with it.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (15:42)
Exactly.
It becomes stressful. It can become stressful when cleansing the liver, as well as clearing out old adrenaline from food we have eaten in the past. We flush it out. This cleansing process is very deep.
When we go deeper into the liver and cleanse different layers, emotions can also surface. So it is a very deep process. There are many aspects to consider when we cleanse: simply not pushing too hard, and looking at your entire history, really. What have you been exposed to? What toxins have we inherited?
According to Anthony William, it is toxins. From the very moment you are conceived, toxins are passed on from our parents.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (16:53)
Can you tell us a little more about that? How is it passed on? We all understand how a child is conceived, but how does it happen inside the mother's body?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (17:06)
Exactly. I remember hearing that, and it is very detailed, but I can't repeat it exactly as Anthony William said it. But it is somewhat like genetic traits. In reality, genetic traits are what we have been exposed to, what we have lived with. It could have been DDT that was sprayed, and so on.
But it is really interesting to look at that more deeply. This is how much of Anthony William's information is: very profound. There is also the spiritual aspect. He also has many meditations. We also cover, for example, when we eat food, probiotics, and growing our own food.
And when we eat fruit from trees, we also take in natural probiotics. The entire body of teachings from Anthony William is so profound that we are constantly learning more and more. I notice how the knowledge deepens, and it is very extensive, so you have to keep rereading the books.
And to familiarize yourself with it again, because new information keeps coming in and something we have learned falls away. But what I usually think is that I remember what is generally good and bad, and then you do not remember all the details either. But then there are the things we inherit from our parents, and also what we are exposed to in the environment.
When we are young, it can be toxins. Now, I do not know how many toxins we have in lawns and such, but in the United States, perhaps there is a completely different level of pesticides that many people are exposed to. There are many wall-to-wall carpets indoors there, which are also toxins, as well as plastic and so on. Here, we removed most of that after the 1980s.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (19:28)
And just a brief aside here, for those who are not very familiar with Anthony Williams, he is American. So in this case, he often refers to how things work in the United States.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (19:47)
Yes, but this whole thing becomes like a cocktail of what we have been exposed to while growing up and the food we eat, the toxins we take in. We can take in toxins in different ways. It is water and detergents, perfumes; there are chemicals in all of it. The things we apply to our skin.
Unfortunately, many toxins are allowed in our environment. That is why it is especially important to cleanse yourself daily. Doing so helps the body actively eliminate heavy metals all the time.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (20:37)
But if we go back a little, I am thinking about the pain aspect of it all. According to Anthony, what is pain besides these viruses? I mean, when I think about pain, for example, I think of something like migraines in your case.
It could be that you have had stomach pain for a very long time. I have so many people close to me who have stomach pain every day. Osteoarthritis is another type of pain. Fibromyalgia. Rheumatism, all kinds of different chronic pain. What is Anthony's perspective when he talks about pain? What is he talking about then?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (21:26)
Then it is essentially the same with this pain. It depends on your components of these viruses. How much of these viruses you have, how many heavy metals you have, and how many pathogens. So it is like a cocktail of all that, and then it depends on where in the body the toxins have been stored. It creates inflammation and hypersensitivity in the nerves.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (22:06)
And it is the nerves that signal the pain?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (22:10)
It can manifest as different complaints depending on which virus it is.
And to what extent. When we talk about the Epstein-Barr virus, there are also four different stages of it.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (22:32)
But is this the same as, for example, the herpes virus? We all have it in our bodies, but it can remain latent and sometimes flare up, while nothing happens for some people. Is it the same with the Epstein-Barr virus, according to Anthony, or do we all have pathogens in our bodies too? How does it work?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (22:50)
Yes, it may be that we acquire it early on and that it remains latent in the body for a long time until something happens. It could be some external provocation, an injury that causes it to flare up. Something happens, and then it becomes trauma. But stress also has an impact, and surges of adrenaline have an impact too. That is why it is so important during the healing journey to take care of the nervous system. We use yin yoga, for example, and we make sure to get enough recovery, and we also eat adrenal snacks every other hour so that we can maintain our energy. For example, we give our adrenal glands energy so that we do not run on adrenaline. If we go for a long time without eating, it can worsen our symptoms.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Health Coach at Glimja (23:51)
Could you explain a little more about the nervous system's involvement, or rather, perhaps we should say an overloaded nervous system, and how adrenaline and an exhausted nervous system, which unfortunately many people live with, affect or worsen the pain?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (24:11)
It becomes inflamed all the time, irritating the nerves, and that is what causes the pain. But when you take various supplements, we have the diet and various methods for reducing this viral burden.
That is how you starve the viruses out, quite simply. And it can take different amounts of time. It can happen quickly for some people. So it depends entirely on your unique makeup. That is why no two journeys are alike. And within the Medical Medium community, we see such different results.
I never get tired of listening to all the healing journeys. It is fascinating. Some people actually get up out of wheelchairs.
That is what we have seen. Anthony William has held large conferences in the USA at various Café Gratitude locations, different venues, and so on. There are people there who have shared their healing stories. Quite a lot, or very many, have been filmed, so we have been able to hear their stories. It ranges from people who may have been bedridden for several years.
Or have sat in a wheelchair or been very seriously ill, and then, with the help of this information, have been able to take care of their own health and help their own body become well or improve. As mentioned, the amount of time it takes varies. So patience is a major, important ingredient in this. And then things happen too. We can, for example, be exposed to new viruses. That is why it is also important to think about hygiene, yes. How we handle all those things, such as public toilets.
We wash our hands and think about what we touch and don't touch our eyes, and so on. Those kinds of things are also a big part of what to keep in mind. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but you take it at your own pace, and you can't learn everything at once. It's a journey, and it's also a lifestyle.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (27:08)
I can really imagine that.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (27:12)
Yes, no, it happens gradually, and the more you learn about the body, the more you realize there are many components. This is also part of it. There are things like an infrared sauna that help, as well as dry brushing and bouncing, or rebounding, as they call it on a trampoline, to support the lymphatic system. But don't jump wildly, especially when you are chronically ill.
But just bouncing, standing on it without jumping, also helps the system.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (27:48)
to activate the lymphatic system, yes. But I'm a little curious. Now, it may be that it just hasn't really sunk in for me, but I'm thinking that someone else listening may also feel the same way. I'm still curious: is this a gross simplification of what I'm expressing now, or is everything fundamentally due to these viruses and pathogens?
Even if it is, I'm thinking, for example, according to Anthony William, I'm thinking, for example, about how you described your own journey, your own experience at the beginning, how you had so much pain in your body, nervous system, and muscles. Is that also because of the viruses, because the nervous system somehow presses on...
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (28:41)
And the heavy metals. I've had... Since I was a teenager, I've had pain between my shoulder blades. I went to a chiropractor for the first time when I was 17. Then I went a lot in my mid-twenties and also had lumbago and so on. Everything is also worsened by the stress that runs deep in our society, and many people are exposed to it. But then, when you also understand this about diet and viruses. I had extreme... In the beginning, when I became ill, I had incredible pain, perhaps for three or four weeks, also in my teeth. This is also viruses, then. And in my jaw, and a great deal of shingles. The neck.
The neck pain has moved between the shoulder blades. I don't have lower back pain. Even so, I went gluten-free back in the 2000s. 2007, 2005. I also understood dairy early on.
But then, it can also be that you ingest it sometimes. Every now and then. That's what, when you ingest it, takes three months to clear out.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (30:19)
Does it depend on the amount you ingest, or does it take longer if there is more, less time if there is a little less, or...
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (30:26)
Yes, and this is difficult to know exactly. That’s the thing. When you ingest something, it takes time to clear it out, three months. That’s why I was so strict. Then accidents can happen and so on, and you may ingest something. It’s difficult to know. When you perhaps start feeling worse, you always wonder, what happened now?
You look around a bit to see whether you’ve ingested something, or you may also have been exposed to a new virus that entered through your eyes, mouth, or nose. So that’s why it’s those who understand this and who have gone a little deeper into Anthony Williams’ information and read the books and listened to the live broadcasts and so on.
When you’re that ill and have no quality of life, you’re also prepared to do anything.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (31:38)
It’s often those you hear about or those I’ve come into contact with who have followed Anthony Williams’ protocol. They’re the ones who have truly tried everything. They’ve searched the whole market, tried different diets, different supplements, different approaches and directions, and finally just said, "I’ll try it."
"I’m willing to try everything, even if it feels extreme that I have to avoid so much and take lots of supplements." But you try, and that’s what happens. If you really don’t want to have to live with these daily pains and attacks or doctor’s visits or whatever it may be, you’re usually willing to try most things.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (32:24)
Yes, that’s how it turns out. And then there are many details to keep track of. It can be helpful to be guided at first. It’s easy to miss details because it’s so comprehensive. That’s why we also have these Medical Medium potlucks. It’s important to have a community where we can meet and eat together.
Anyone who wants to can organize a potluck, so they can contact me.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (33:01)
A potluck, then, I just want to clarify that you’re talking about gathering with hot food. Please tell anyone who’s curious more about it.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (33:08)
It’s a project we have at Frisk och glad. Catherine Hirota Permats and I. And at friskglad.se, there’s some information about it and a place where you can sign up. Email us and let us know that you want to host or organize a potluck. Then everyone brings dishes, and you set up a table, and the person who is...
The host doesn’t have to make a dish. You can if you want to. You open your home to people. It’s probably a lot of work. I hosted a potluck here last Sunday. You take care of everything the day before and afterward. It’s so much fun and so wonderful to meet like-minded people. You get inspiration.
You didn’t feel that different. Food inspiration and recipes are fun. There’s so much delicious food.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (34:18)
It’s so easy to get stuck in your own routine. You know your recipes, you know your food. At best, you probably make roughly the same ten dishes over and over again.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (34:28)
It's important when you start following the Medical Medium approach that you get inspiration and that the food is tasty too. You may also have cravings for foods you have eaten before. This is also part of the process: when you change your diet, you may have reactions at first. It's a healing diet.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (35:03)
What do you mean? What kind of reaction is it?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (35:05)
You may have a sensitive stomach or need to go to the bathroom frequently, detox symptoms, and so on. You may also have a bubbly stomach. It could also be that you...
Yes, but as we said, there are a lot of cravings. It's emotionally difficult. You long for your old food. It's also associated with memories and nostalgia.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (35:45)
But I think that's so interesting, and I know it has been discussed in many different places.
Is there any help or guidance for knowing whether they are detox symptoms or whether you are actually getting worse or reacting to something? Because it could also be that I am eating something I am actually allergic to. Is there any guidance you can follow so that you don't just assume everything is detox?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (36:21)
Exactly, and you may be at the beginning, which is where you come in. Because it's so individual, you have to look at what is right for you. How are you doing, and what reactions are you having? And which foods help you at the beginning, during a transition period? Maybe you are more sensitive to certain foods than others, especially at first.
And then you have to create an individualized program. There are calming foods, as well as foods that are more cleansing, and depending on what problems you have, you may need to take it slowly at first.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (37:14)
Yes, that clearly sounds sensible.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (37:17)
When you first start drinking celery juice, you can also increase it gradually, and so on. There are many aspects to consider all the time. There isn't one answer; it depends. You also have to take it at your own pace so you can keep it up.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (37:44)
It's important.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (37:46)
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (37:47)
It's all about these kinds of changes. Whatever difference you make, you have to make sure you can sustain it in the long term. So many people go all in, run a sprint, and then lose their motivation because it's far too challenging to be one hundred percent.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (38:05)
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (38:06)
If you’re curious about exploring Anthony William’s methods and feel that you’re dealing with more pain than you would like, regardless of what type of pain issue it may be, but you’re curious about dipping your toes in and starting a little on your own at home, what would you say is the most important thing to start with to explore this and begin trying these principles?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (38:36)
I usually say that you bring in the new if you find it difficult to remove things. So it’s good to introduce, for example, lemon water, celery juice, and smoothies as a foundation. Then gradually replace products, meaning junk food. Find substitutes.
Yes, so that you don’t lose motivation or give up. If you start too aggressively, it may be easier to think, “Ugh, I can’t be bothered with this.” You start with what you can manage. For some people, it’s just lemon water, perhaps with honey as well. Drinking more. And then maybe you take the next step, depending on what symptoms you have.
If you don’t have many symptoms, the goal may simply be to feel a little more energetic. Then you can incorporate the things that fit into your life. For example, you might eat more raw food, more salad, more juice, drink more juice, or drink more smoothies. His books contain many different recipes, and there are also plenty online. So the idea is to introduce more rather than coming at people with rules, to keep up their enthusiasm and not lose heart or...
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (40:28)
That sounds like very good first steps. Generally, as you say, we often really like to hold on to everything that feels familiar. It can be a little difficult to immediately start cutting out certain things. Starting with something often feels more enjoyable. It feels like a win. Oh, I get to try something instead.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (40:56)
And then, you know, many people may have done it gradually over many years, while others are supposed to do it from one day to the next, and then it may be difficult to stick with it. And something that has always worked well for me is reading about why something I may want to quit, which I know isn’t really good for me, is harmful.
Then I read about it and get information about what strengthens the body. That knowledge is wisdom. It leads you in the direction you want to go.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (41:41)
Interesting. It really is as you say, that if you have a feeling or thought that you want to do something or stop doing something, you should make sure to build up your own store of arguments for or against it, to educate yourself in that way. Now I have more and more arguments for why sugar isn’t good, for example. So now it becomes easier, instead of just thinking, “I know it isn’t good.” Now I have this and this that I know firsthand isn’t good.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (42:18)
It can also be alcohol. What happens in the body when you consume alcohol? Anthony William also discusses that. It is very interesting. We burn neurons and so on. It can help motivate you. What strengthens the body? What makes us more...
What do we need, the muscles need... We need glucose. We need glucose for the muscles. And then also to produce muscles and also for the brain. It is glucose that the brain needs, not fat. And you could talk about that for an entire episode. When we understand that, mental health is also a major issue today.
What does the body need? There are a lot of chemicals, fast food, and a lot of manufactured products and so on. What do they do? In the brain books, you can read about various additives. What happens. Aspartame too. What happens in the brain when we consume this?
It is extremely sensitive. Especially if you are prone to epilepsy, it is very important to be careful with these kinds of additives. Some foods contain more additives than others.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Health Coach Glimja (43:58)
I think there are so many different types of pain. The kinds that ordinary people, as we are, are used to experiencing ourselves and hearing about. There can be stomach pain, an irritated bowel, and there can be migraines, as you mentioned yourself. Long-term muscle and joint pain does not have to be rheumatic, but it can be rheumatic, osteoarthritis, and so on and so forth.
If you were to give as clear and educational an explanation as possible of what causes the pain and what it is, what happens in the body and what actually affects it and causes it to occur according to Anthony William, how would you explain it?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (44:51)
Yes, according to Anthony William, it is about neurotoxins, which are by-products, toxic by-products that viruses release. And they feed on heavy metals and other toxins in the body. The nervous system is very sensitive to this, and then it manifests as various symptoms. It can be dizziness or numbness.
It can be tingling, migraines, brain fog, neurological fatigue, and various types of pain and problems, quite simply. And, for example, IBS is an abbreviation for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. So essentially, it is a name for having an irritated bowel or irritated intestinal system.
That is the term for it, but it does not really explain what it actually comes from. But when you understand this, and that many problems are related to the vagus nerve and so on. The vagus nerves, which Anthony William also explains are several nerves. He writes long chapters about this, and it is very fascinating to read about how they work. When they are inflamed, nerve pain occurs. That is the pain we feel.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Health Coach at Glimja (46:34)
To clarify, pain equals nerve pain. It’s the nerves that make us feel pain. Therefore, an overloaded nervous system becomes even more taxing when we’re already dealing with viruses and toxins in the body. Have I understood that correctly?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (46:53)
Yes, the nervous system is inflamed by these waste products released by the viruses. That reaction we experience. If we keep feeding the body the food that the viruses live on, they continue to live there.
But if we stop supplying it, that’s why it’s important to avoid no foods, or troublemaker foods. Instead, we eat healing foods that calm the nervous system, such as potatoes, bananas, fruit, and sweet potatoes. These are also calming for the nervous system. There are various recipes that are very soothing. Healing broth, and so on. There are so many recipes. We have the whole dietary guide there, where Anthony explains how different fruits and vegetables have different functions. So you can look things up in the indexes at the back and read, okay, I have these issues. They’re like reference books.
So you can identify the foods that are particularly good for you, considering the symptoms and issues you have. You need to look at that too. What’s the worst, so to speak? What’s worst for me right now? And perhaps address that first if you have several symptoms, which is very common.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Health Coach at Glimja (48:46)
I think what you’re saying is very interesting when you mentioned IBS as an example, because it’s something many people recognize. It’s an irritated intestinal system. That doesn’t really say very much, but the system is irritated for one reason or another. So is it... Can you say that it’s the same thing with physical pain elsewhere if we look at the whole body, not just the intestines, but say, it’s an irritated system?
If you were to give a broad description of it, is that roughly the equivalent, or how would you describe it?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (49:23)
And then there’s also the issue with IBS. If we talk about all of it, it may be due to a lack of something, but essentially it’s the viruses that cause the problems. They are what create all these reactions that we respond to. So as we gradually manage to eliminate them, the environment in the body improves, regardless of what issues we have. Low production of hydrochloric acid and bile allows different viruses to grow, including strep, which then multiplies in the gastrointestinal tract. Heavy metals and mercury in the intestines also cause problems.
It also gets worse if you eat a lot of fat and protein. I remember that my stomach was sensitive, too. I haven’t had a diagnosis. But I was sensitive in the beginning. I initially saw someone who said, “You need fish and meat. It’s really important,” so I started eating those. But that wasn’t what helped me.
I remember that it also took some time for my gut to calm down in the beginning. That was also before I found Medical Medium and got all these answers. Then it took some time. But the celery juice heals there and removes the viruses and so on; they simply work together to clean things out.
So essentially, it’s the foundation of all of Medical Medium. It’s like when you build a house: you need a solid foundation to stand on and build upon. That’s what you lay there, the foundation - it’s the celery juice. Without the celery juice, there are important components missing, so to speak.
If you think, “I can just have smoothies.” No, you need the celery juice. It’s pure medicine. It’s a sacred plant.
Then when you perhaps notice that you can increase the dose, that also increases the healing, and so on. But in the beginning, when you have IBS, you’re sensitive. You have to be patient. Patience must always be there.
And there may be certain foods that simply don’t work in the beginning. So you avoid them, of course; you don’t have to go hardcore.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (52:36)
It feels like an important thing to keep in mind and remember: you don’t have to go hardcore. At least not in the beginning. Depending on what process you’re going through and how much healing you need help with. You don’t have to force yourself to do certain things if they don’t feel right and you don’t feel well doing them at first.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (52:58)
It’s so important that we’re kind to ourselves and don’t put pressure on ourselves. There is, it’s as if there’s something unspoken in our society. We want to do well. We also want to do our best, of course. Then even diet can become about performance.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (53:25)
Oh yes. There’s also the risk that it simply creates even more stress. Then it doesn’t really matter how healthy you are or how nutritious your diet is if it becomes a source of stress in itself.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (53:40)
And then there are so many factors, too, such as what your life looks like overall. Do you have stressful relationships? Do you have challenging family or family relationships? You may need to set boundaries, so it’s a long and major journey that we often need to go through as well.
So standing up for ourselves and taking care of ourselves. It’s like putting on your own oxygen mask first before helping others. That’s a good thing to remind yourself of. When we ourselves are doing well, we can also help others more effectively. But when I help people, a lot of it is also about working with self-love and all these books. There are so many books that can help us with that too. Brené Brown has written a lot about vulnerability and self-love. There are many different authors, such as Wayne Dyer, who is a great, fantastic author. It’s also very important that you perhaps, if you have trauma... Because trauma affects us.
But we can also heal some trauma through nutrition. But then there’s also a psychological aspect. It affects us in both ways. The things that happen to us shape us too, what we experience in life. Things also happen when you cleanse, and thoughts and feelings may come up that you need to deal with along the way.
It’s also when you go on this journey that you notice you become stronger. You get a better, a better foundation... You become more grounded and rooted. Then, of course, we also need to go out into nature, ground ourselves and draw on that energy. There are many pieces to it. Being human involves a lot. Often, those of us who work with nutrition and are interested in nutrition get very caught up in it. But I also work with the holistic and spiritual aspects as a medium, and I also look at our emotions, our hearts and the awareness of the heart, through women’s circles and this feminine power, as well as women’s history. Looking at how we reclaim our power, really.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (56:28)
It’s so incredible; it feels like the human mind wants to... wants to divide things into boxes and categorize them in order to simplify, understand and grasp them. But our entire existence simply cannot be grasped. We’re too complex. It’s like... We’re a system consisting of so many different systems, consisting of things we see and things we don’t see, and everything affects everything else.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (56:58)
Yes, it’s fascinating. It’s also when we cleanse the body, when we cleanse the liver, that so much happens to us. The spiritual journey, but also that, because you... Yes, you transform. You’re not the same. You become more genuine, more yourself, perhaps who we were originally, as children, or we return to that as well. It’s incredible what happens when we remove toxins from our bodies. Heavy metals affect us enormously. According to Anthony William, all these mental health diagnoses - bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, ADD and autism - are also related to heavy metals accumulating in different parts of the brain. It’s so exciting and fascinating to take in this information that he publishes. They’re very extensive books.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (58:20)
It really is an entire library, too. How many books has he written now?
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (58:24)
Yes, I can’t give an exact number. Then I might get it wrong, but there must be around seven of them at least. The Diet Guide, Medical Medium, one about the liver, and one about the thyroid. Then there are two about the brain, and one about healing with detox.
Somewhere around then, and he has also written an e-book about... I don’t remember what it’s called, but it’s about derms: how energies can affect people.
Hmm.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (59:14)
It’s a universe all of its own, you could definitely say that about his readings.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (59:23)
Yes, and the way the information came to him is amazing. He was four years old when it came to him. This voice, the Spirit of Compassion, told him that his grandmother had breast cancer. He then said it, even though he didn’t know what breast cancer was, or even know the term. He didn’t know what it meant.
But then it turned out that Grandma had breast cancer. He received that information from this voice. It is truly a challenging life task to convey all of this. He does it incredibly well, but it must have been tough for him.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (1:00:15)
People talk a lot about daring to stand in your own truth. It must be extremely challenging to stand in that truth. I can imagine that he is questioned intensely and perhaps even, in the worst case, mocked. He can say some fairly provocative things that many people find challenging.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (1:00:38)
This is also something that, for me, was no problem. I’m a medium myself, so it wasn’t strange to me that someone has a voice or receives a voice. But if you find that difficult, it may conflict with what you believe in, and so on. It’s also an important part of whether you can take in the information, if you’re open to it.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Glimja Health Coach (1:01:03)
But Anna-Karin, this has been a really interesting conversation. Many thanks for wanting to join us and talk about chronic pain and Medical Medium's perspective on it. It is undeniably very deep and broad, and very interesting for anyone who wants to dive in and feels inclined or curious to simply explore what his protocols may involve. And you are there to receive people who are curious and want to explore, but would simply like some guidance along the way.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (1:01:39)
Thank you, My, for having this conversation. Thank you for guiding and directing the conversation so well. There is an incredible amount we could have discussed. It is a little limited, but I hope we have been able to give an insight into this world and also hope to those who are in pain, facing challenges, and having a really difficult time. There is hope. There are ways to feel better and even fully recover. For me, it was not a quick process, but... I was also... It depends on how serious the situation is. For me, it was very serious. There was nothing visible on the outside. I would have had to walk around with a bandage or something. Then people would see that you are injured up there. Brain fog and exhaustion and everything. The nervous system and everything.
Think of how many people go around struggling. And when I said that I was in pain, I also heard, "Yes, but everyone has pain." I was also told to accept the pain at rehabilitation centers. But maybe you are searching too much or looking too hard. Just accept it.
Yes, you accept it in the moment. But of course you want to feel well. You cannot give up trying to feel better.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Health Coach Glimja (1:03:38)
It is a very fine line when it comes to the word acceptance. Not resisting what you feel in the moment. Right here and now, the pain is here. It does not help to fight yourself bloody. But not accepting that it has to be a permanent thing. The end of everything, that you can never get rid of it. Hopefully...
In many cases, there is of course no guarantee of anything, but in many cases there may actually be things you can do.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (1:04:13)
Yes, in the beginning, I remember that I went on Vipassana, a ten-day silent retreat, thinking that it might also help me recover from chronic pain. So I really... well, when you are involved in spirituality, there can also be an explanation for it. That you may have somehow thought yourself into this condition, that there is something wrong with your thoughts. And I also just want to say that this is not the case, but...
There is a physical explanation.
And that is what we get answers to through Anthony William's information. We can help our physical body and psychological well-being.
My Ardebäck Ulvander, Health Coach Glimja (1:05:03)
It feels like a very meaningful takeaway. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who watched or listened today. Thank you for being here with us, and we hope to see and hear from you again.
Anna-Karin Schödin, Holistic Health Coach (1:05:18)
Thank you so much. Goodbye!
