Do you have sunscreens just sitting on the shelf at home?
Here are smart tips on what you can do with them so they actually get used.
Organic sunscreens that turn white on the skin
There are tricks that can make the white film disappear completely or at least make it less visible. Here they are!
1. Keep massaging so your sunscreen melts into the skin.
The warmth from your hands helps the sunscreen become one with your skin. If you have cold hands, rub them together first to warm them up.
2. Dry skin emphasizes the whiteness in your mineral sunscreen.
Make sure to exfoliate and moisturize your skin first, so the sunscreen absorbs more easily into the skin. Body or face oil under your sunscreen works best to make the white film disappear.
3. Mix your sunscreen with Zuii Luminising Creme
Luminising Creme has no sun protection in itself but gives the most believable sun-kissed skin in an instant. They are incredibly nice to use as they are. Together with a sunscreen, the result looks more natural on the skin. The sunscreen's texture is thinned out and the whiteness disappears. The final product becomes like a light tinted sunscreen.
4. Mix your sunscreen with a (too dark) liquid foundation
The end result becomes like a tinted sunscreen.
5. Mix your sunscreen with a bronzer in loose powder form
The result becomes like a tinted sunscreen. If your sunscreen is already thick in consistency, a loose powder bronzer can make it even drier and thicker. In that case, also add a little cream or oil.
Sunscreens that become too shiny on the skin
Shine is all well and good. Sometimes it can become too sticky and oily in the heat. This is what you can do.
6. Mix your sunscreen with loose powder
This gives a less shiny result. It also becomes less cakey compared to if you powder on top of the sunscreen. If your sunscreen is already thick in consistency, also add a light cream or lotion.
Sunscreens that feel cakey, matte and dry on the skin
A good sunscreen shouldn't be visible on the skin. If you have dry skin, some sunscreens can look dull. Try this trick then!
7. Exfoliate the skin and make sure to have (preferably) oil or cream under your sunscreen.
Alternatively, you can mix your sunscreen with oil, cream or lotion.
Important to consider
If you're tempted to mix your sunscreen with another product, try with a smaller amount first. Keep in mind that you get a lower SPF the more you dilute your sunscreen. Good luck!
