Product information
Bee pollen is one of the most complete, nutrient-rich foods found in nature.
It contains, among other things:
- Almost all known vitamins and minerals, a lot of B vitamins.
- All essential amino acids – with 50% more available protein than, for example, beef.
- Most enzymes and coenzymes the body needs.
- Antioxidants.
- Essential fatty acids.
- Essential sugars (so-called "glyconutrients").
All these nutrients are in their most bioavailable form and very easily absorbed by the body. Bee pollen has therefore traditionally been used as a natural "vitamin tablet" for optimal health and a long life. Bee pollen is considered one of the top 10 most important superfoods. In China, Egypt, the Roman Empire, Europe, and among the Aztecs, bee pollen has been highly valued for its health properties for centuries. Pollen is suitable as a supplement, for sweetening, or as decoration on various baked goods/desserts.
You can also make a face mask with pollen and honey by mixing in a bowl:
- 2 tsp pollen
- 1 tsp yogurt
- 1/4 tsp honey
Wash your face with water and then apply your mask with your fingertips over your entire face and neck. Leave space around the eyes. Let it work for about 20 minutes and then rinse off.
Dosage for adults: 1 tsp per day is recommended depending on taste and need. Best taken in the morning.
Note: should not be consumed if allergic to bee products. If you are allergic to bee stings, we advise against eating pollen.
Gradual increase is recommended. Start with a smaller dose (about ¼ tsp) of bee pollen. It’s better to eat a little and then increase the dose. Feel free to mix pollen with your saliva in your mouth before swallowing. It can also be mixed with a little honey or in juice. You can also soak a teaspoon in water overnight and then drink it at breakfast.
Some people who eat pollen may initially experience mild forms of irritation in the gastrointestinal tract, headaches, or nausea due to the rich nutrient content and potency of bee pollen. Therefore, it is recommended to start with a smaller dose.
WARNING: Occasionally (very rarely) someone may be allergic to bee pollen. Uncommon allergic reactions can include swelling, heart palpitations, and difficulty breathing. If you have never eaten bee pollen before, you can try placing a grain under your tongue to see if it causes any reaction. Then take two grains daily to slowly increase to a teaspoon per day if you notice no reaction.
How is Ballot-Flurin’s bee pollen produced?
When bees collect nectar from flowers to make honey, they also collect pollen by rubbing against the inside of the flower. This is what causes the bees to "pollinate" the flowers on their journey between them, enabling the plants to reproduce. Honeybees have evolved to collect only the best, most nutritious pollen they can find, investing a lot of time and energy in doing so.
For only a few hours per day (to avoid stressing the bees), our beekeepers place "pollen traps" on the hives, which catch some of the pollen the bees have collected when they return from France and Spain. (They are only allowed to take 300 units per month).
The pollen is then dried immediately after collection and is not heated or treated in any other way to preserve all active substances and enzymes.
Contents: 100% raw, organic bee pollen. 210 grams in a glass jar. This bee pollen comes from Spain, the Extremadura region in the mountains. It is certified organic and has been tested for pesticides.
This also means:
\> no use of antibiotics on the bees.
\> at least 50% organic fields within a 3 km radius around the hives.
Manufacturer: Ballot-Flurin is located in France and cares for the bees in a gentle way, i.e., Apiculture Douce - Gentle Beekeeping. Their products are produced locally in the countryside without proximity to environmental pollution, which is very important when choosing bee products.
It is important that bee products come from beekeepers who respect the environment, the hive, and the bees’ language. Many beekeepers today have problems with bees flying away because we destroy the environment/nature with spraying and GMOs.
It is time to wake up and take care of our bees!
What can we do?
- Always buy honey that is untreated, raw. Preferably from local beekeepers if you find someone who feels trustworthy, who does not process their honey and who takes care of the bees on their terms.
- Never buy honey from China.
- Plant flowers and plants that bees like in your garden or on your little patch. (They love purple and blue flowers)
- Choose organically grown food as much as possible.
