Holistic's Flaxseed Oil
This Flaxseed Oil is 100% organically grown and cold-pressed. Flaxseed oil is a good, renewable source of omega-3 and omega-6. Absorption and conversion of Omega-3: Plant-based omega-3 from flaxseed oil, for example, is called ALA. (Also found in Chia seeds and Hemp seeds/Hemp oil). Flaxseed oil also contains linoleic acid (LA) which converts to dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA), gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and arachidonic acid (AA). Plant-based omega-6 is called LA. ALA and LA are essential fatty acids, which means the body needs them but cannot produce them on its own.
We must obtain them through our diet. It is estimated that only 5-15 percent of ALA converts to DHA and EPA. Omega-3 from algae oil or fish oil is called DHA and EPA. The conversion requires enzymes which in turn require vitamins and minerals. Therefore, the conversion is better if you have plenty of enzymes and nutrients in your body.
The more nutrients you have in your body, the better it absorbs omega-3. You especially need vitamins B, C and E as well as magnesium, calcium and zinc. Things that inhibit the body's absorption of omega-3 are sugar, refined vegetable oils, trans fats, alcohol and smoking.We recommend that you get the right spectrum of all beneficial fatty acids; preferably eat different types of oils daily, such as avocado oil, hemp oil, olive oil, coconut oil, flaxseed oil and algae oil (or fish oil). By using flaxseed oil and algae oil as a source of Omega-3 instead of fish oil, you are using a renewable source that never runs out. Of course, you don't need to consume all oils at once but can alternate.
Dosage: 1 tablespoon per day. Should be consumed within 4 weeks after opening. Natural variations in color and taste may occur. It does not tolerate heating. Flaxseed oil is delicious to eat as is, in dressings, sauces, as a topping for porridge, in smoothies etc.
Storage: Store in a cool place in the refrigerator and use within 4 weeks after opening. Close the lid immediately to avoid unnecessary exposure to oxygen.
