Our Dulse is wild-harvested and hand-cut along the Atlantic coast of Ireland. The harvest takes place when the seaweed is at its most nutritious and flavorful, which is from early summer to early autumn. These dulse flakes are raw and certified organic with no additives.
Dulse has been an important food source in various parts of the world for over a thousand years. It primarily grows on the northern coasts of the world's major oceans. The Vikings, for example, were major users of this type of seaweed. In Ireland and Iceland, coastal farmers have been harvesting this seaweed for approximately 1500 years to enrich their food.
Dulse is rich in protein, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals (calcium, potassium, magnesium, and manganese). But it is above all the high iodine content that makes this seaweed unique.
Usage: The daily dosage is approximately 1-3 teaspoons per day. These flakes are ideal in smoothies, soups, stews, sauces, dressings, or in pesto. The flakes have a distinctive taste and a smooth consistency that combines well with other ingredients.
