Read more5 easy ways to get more chlorophyll in everyday life
A simple routine is to start each day with a shot of wheatgrass or barley grass juice powder, spirulina, chlorella, or AFA algae, or a ready-made green mix diluted in water. When you wake up, you can first drink a glass of water with lemon or lime. Then you can take your "shot". 2. Make green smoothies Making a green smoothie is one of the easiest ways to get extra chlorophyll and at the same time energy for breakfast, lunch, or as a snack. Here is a basic recipe that provides a good base and is perfect to combine with other ingredients: A handful of any fruit A handful of any berries 2 handfuls of any green leaves Water Experiment with different combinations until you find your favorites. You can replace green leaves with any chlorophyll-rich supplement if you want. Of course, you can also add, for example, protein powder or chia seeds if you want a more filling smoothie. Avocado is also a great way to make a more substantial smoothie that also tastes creamy and wonderful. 3. Make dressing with algae Algae are undoubtedly one of the healthiest ingredients you can use to make a really tasty dressing for your salad. Here is a basic recipe that can be varied to taste. 100 ml olive oil 50 ml lemon juice or apple cider vinegar 1-2 tsp chlorella, AFA algae, or spirulina 1 tbsp honey 1-2 tbsp fresh or dried herbs such as basil or coriander Salt and pepper to taste For extra creamy dressing, add: 100 ml water 1/2 avocado or 100 ml hemp seeds Blend all ingredients in a blender. Pour over your salad and enjoy! 4. Blend your salad Does it sometimes feel overwhelming when you have to eat a delicious but huge salad? Try blending it into a green dip or salsa. A great way to get in more green leaves without having to chew all afternoon. Italian salsa 1 bag of arugula 100 ml walnuts or pine nuts 50 ml olive oil 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar Salt and pepper to taste Mexican salsa 2 large tomatoes 1 bag of fresh spinach 1 pot of fresh coriander (or about 40g frozen) 1 small red onion or 1 garlic clove Juice from half a lemon 1/2 fresh chili pepper of any kind Herb salt to taste Blend all ingredients in a food processor. Serve in a small bowl and enjoy with any dinner or lunch. 5. Fresh-pressed vegetable juice Don’t forget that one of the best sources of vitamins, antioxidants, and chlorophyll is fresh-pressed vegetable juice. Try to make your own juices as often as you can. Good juice ingredients include cucumber, celery, spinach, kale, green pea shoots or other sprouts, fennel, and broccoli. Let your imagination flow! You can find effective and good juicers here. If you don’t have a juicer, you can blend in a regular blender; it will be more of a smoothie than juice, but the most important thing is that we get our vegetables.

Let us introduce Grön Lycka, perhaps best known for their incredibly beautiful soaps. Here at Glimja, we have fallen in love with their shampoo and conditioner bars. About Grön Lycka Handcrafted soaps are made entirely from scratch and are cold-stirred or cold-processed. Grön Lycka’s natural cosmetics are plant-based, and as you can understand, they do not use surfactants like sulfates and parabens, citric acid, or mineral oils. The range is free from chemicals and additives. The softening and moisturizing glycerin, which forms naturally and is released from the fats during saponification, remains in the soap. Their fragrance oils are phthalate-free. Grön Lycka produces products daily with direct deliveries to customers or retailers, as they want to provide us with fresh and nutrient-rich natural cosmetics. Production takes place in the soap studio just outside Omberg in the scenic Rök. They make their range in small batches with love and care. The recipes are designed with the utmost care, drawing inspiration directly from nature’s colors and patterns. The products are safety-assessed by an authorized chemist and registered both in the EU database ECAS/CPNP and with the Medical Products Agency. Grön Lycka follows the Medical Products Agency’s requirements for so-called good manufacturing practice during production (Good Manufacturing Practice, abbreviated GMP). Grön Lycka also wants to support us in minimizing plastic use at home through their long-lasting, solid products and by using recyclable packaging. This suits both those who want to “plastic detox” and those who travel a lot. Solid Shampoo and Conditioner Bars These are like beautiful art. The different colors come from natural pigments or clays. What all Grön Lycka’s soaps have in common is that they are much harder than regular soaps. Therefore, they are extra, extra long-lasting and don’t get mushy easily. They are all gentle and do not dry out the skin. Luxurious to have on display, as they become a nice decorative detail that stays mess-free on the sink. Bestseller Sunlit Shimmer Clay Shampoo We love the idea of shampoo bars; skipping water and plastic packaging is good for both the wallet and the environment. Grön Lycka’s clay shampoo is a different kind of shampoo bar. It’s brilliant to add clay to the product. The texture becomes much firmer, not at all prone to getting mushy where it sits, and the clay gives the hair volume while cleansing and absorbing dirt. The best part is that this shampoo bar lasts forever. Grön Lycka says one soap bar equals three (!) regular shampoo bottles. Another great thing about this shampoo bar is that it is pH balanced (pH 5.5), which means you don’t need to do an acid rinse unless you want to. Bestseller Queen of Volume Hair Conditioner Hair conditioner in solid form. There is also clay in the conditioner. Grön Lycka says the conditioner bar equals three regular conditioner bottles (!). With moderately warm water, it’s easy to rub the conditioner bar to apply it to the hair. Simply massage the bar over the hair in circular motions. If you have a sensitive scalp, massage it in there as well. Then rinse thoroughly with water. This particular conditioner bar is incredibly long-lasting. The hair gets moisture, shine, and volume. Conditioner doesn’t always add volume, but Queen of Volume does.

Good gut bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, or so-called probiotics are healthy bacteria responsible for nutrient absorption and supporting the immune system, and yes, they can be used in cooking. Here we share three recipes for vegan-friendly ice creams. You can find ice pop molds here. Strawberry Smile for Kids This makes about 4 ice creams, the number depends on the ice pop molds you use. 5 dl fresh strawberriesJuice from 1 lime1.2 dl coconut water1 tbsp honey2 tsp probiotics for kids How to make it? Blend all ingredients, including the probiotic powder, then pour the liquid into about four ice pop molds. Save a few fruit slices and place them in the mold before pouring in the liquid to create beautiful patterns. Put in the freezer. Let the ice pop sticks stay in the freezer for at least three hours before serving. Coconut Crazy for Adults This makes about 4 ice creams, the number depends on the ice pop molds you use. 1 can coconut milk (not light)1 dl finely chopped unsweetened dried coconut1 ½ tbsp honeyKiwi, strawberries, and whole blueberries2 probiotic capsules, e.g. Lactovitalis Pro How to make it? Blend all ingredients (open the probiotic capsules and pour out the contents). Then pour the liquid into about four ice pop molds. Save a few whole fruit slices and/or berries and place them in the mold before pouring in the liquid to create beautiful patterns. You can press a fruit slice against the edge of the mold or place it at the bottom if you use horizontal ice pop molds. Put in the freezer. Let the ice pop sticks stay in the freezer for at least three hours before serving. Cashew Yogurt You can also use yogurt as a base for ice cream. This wonderfully tasty yogurt is made from cashew nuts and is very easy to make. It can be used for many things like ice cream, morning yogurt, cooking, and more. Your stomach will thank you! 3 dl cashew nuts (organic and natural)3 dl lukewarm water about 42 degrees Celsius, mix boiled water with cold water until you reach the right temperature.2 probiotic capsules – e.g. Lactovitalis Pro. How to make it? Blend the nuts in a good blender with water until it has a smooth and suitably thick consistency – it should resemble yogurt. Open the probiotic capsules and pour out the contents. Blend again. Pour into a glass jar, cover, and let stand at room temperature for 10 hours, preferably overnight. Now you have a super tasty, slightly tangy yogurt for breakfast. Store in a tightly sealed jar in the refrigerator.

Read moreGuide to Slow Juicers - Find the Right Juicer for Your Needs
Many ask us which juicer they should buy. In this article, we will therefore try to guide you to the juicer that suits you best. All the juicers we offer are so-called slow juicers, which means they cold-press the juice, i.e., the juice is pressed out slowly so that enzymes and vitamins survive the juicing and do not oxidize. It is important that the juice is pressed out slowly so that enzymes and vitamins survive the juicing and do not oxidize. With slow juicers, the juice therefore lasts longer after being pressed. With our selected juicers, you get the maximum nutrients from your vegetables, berries, herbs, sprouts, and fruits. Exclusive top-class juicers If you want to juice all kinds of things like vegetables, berries, wheatgrass, barley grass, many root vegetables, soft fruit, herbs, and sprouts, we always recommend a juicer with two augers. They are in a class of their own, and yes, much more expensive and much better at juicing all kinds of things. Professional juicers with two augers Angel Juicer Greenstar Pro Greenstar Elite – available in white and black Both Greenstar and Angel juicer use the same mechanics with two augers, but there is a slight difference in the design of the rotors and pressing chamber which mainly affects the amount of juice. Greenstar Elite has "Bio Ceramic Magnetic Technologies" and "Infrared Technologies" which according to the manufacturer make the juice more stable. If you choose to juice in the morning and make juice for the afternoon at the same time, this can definitely be an advantage. If you choose a slow juicer with two augers, you get a significantly better result, retain more nutrients, and get more juice that lasts longer. Affordable & simpler juicers If you are mainly focused on making lighter fruit and vegetable juices like celery juice and want a cheaper juicer, you can choose one with a single auger. They are usually lower in price and easier to clean. A juicer with only one auger juices a bit slower and is more sensitive to hard vegetables like carrots or beets. If you press very hard vegetables with such a machine, some parts may break. So you need to be more patient with a juicer that has only one auger and be more careful. Slow juicers with one auger Omega Juicer MM900 Solostar 4 – available in white & silver Vertical juicer that works as both a juicer and a grinder – available in red & silver Omega Juicer MM1500 functions as both a juicer and a food processor Z-star 710 is a manual juicer that works really well but requires arm strength & patience. Most people who choose Z-star do so because they want to bring a juicer on the go or maybe are in a place without access to electricity. Which juicer is easiest to clean? Angel Juicer is easy to clean thanks to having fewer parts and fewer hard-to-reach spaces. Greenstar and Slowstar are equally easy to clean. Of course, it also depends on what you juice, but cleaning takes a while. We find Solostar 4, Omega juicers, and Angel Juicer the easiest to clean. Choose a juicer you will use a lot The most important thing is to find a machine you enjoy using so that you actually use it. Some different thoughts: Our experience is that Greenstar and Slowstar produce juice that foams more. This foam+fibers should be separated with a strainer that comes with the machines. This function is instead built into the pressing housing for Angel Juicer. A very important feature where Slowstar is superior is that the juicer in most cases feeds the vegetables and fruits into the machine by itself. For Solostar 4 and Omega Juicer, the vegetables must be cut into smaller pieces for optimal feeding. The fibers that come out from Greenstar Elite and Slowstar are a bit wetter than the fibers from Angel Juicer. This means you simply get more juice from Angel Juicer assuming you use the same amount of raw ingredients. However, you can extract more juice in many juicers like Greenstar and Omega if you choose to run the fibers through 1-2 more times. When you press this way with Greenstar, you can get about 20% more juice, depending on the type of raw ingredients you use. Juicers with multifunction With some juicers, you can make ice cream, sorbets, nut butters, and pâtés. With Greenstar, Solostar 4, Slowstar, and Omega Juicer MM1500, these accessories are included. For Angel Juicer, you need to buy special pressing housings which are quite expensive. Omega Juicer MM900 does not have that function at all. Conclusion If we sum up all the points above and want to spend as little money as possible for multiple functions, have limited counter space in the kitchen, and want the juicer to feed down as much of the ingredients as possible by itself, then Slowstar and Omega MM1500 win. If you want to get more juice from the ingredients and plan to juice a lot of fruit, berries, spices, leafy greens, and grasses, one of the larger two-shaft models like Angel or Greenstar wins. If you want a cheaper juicer that is easy to clean, Omega MM900 or Solostar 4 wins. They also look nice in the kitchen and don’t take up much space. Works well to juice everything. Includes extra parts so it becomes a “grinder” for making nut butter, pâtés, and sorbets. Disadvantages: Bulky. Takes time to clean. Expensive. Angel Juicer Advantages: It is the choice for those who want maximum nutrition and more juice from the raw ingredients. Works well to juice everything. Easy to clean. Stainless steel, no plastic at all! Extremely rare for problems to occur with an Angel. Nice to look at. Disadvantages: Very expensive. Heavy. Solostar 4 Advantages: Easy to clean. Economical for a slow juicer. Nice design. Easy to move. Disadvantages: Cannot juice everything. More patience required when feeding. Ingredients need to be cut into smaller pieces when feeding. Slowstar Advantages: Vertical juicer; takes up little space. Includes extra parts so it becomes a “grinder” for making nut butter, pâtés, and sorbets. Easy to feed ingredients. Good price. Disadvantages: Takes time to wash all parts. Choose the right juicer and start your health journey Good luck choosing a trusty companion to spend time with every day! In our opinion, the juicer is one of the most important machines for creating radiant health that we wish everyone could have the opportunity to invest in and have in their kitchen. 6 reasons to drink more juice Green juices based mainly on vegetables and a little fruit are an excellent way to get a lot of different vegetables, especially if you find it hard to get enough vegetables and fruit in your daily diet. Through juice, you get plenty of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that go straight into your system, but juice should not replace chewing fresh vegetables; that should also be done. Juice helps you absorb all the nutrients from vegetables. This is important because most of us have impaired digestion as a result of less optimal food choices over many years. Vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables, are linked to reducing the risk of developing diabetes and can help improve cholesterol levels. Green juices support the immune system by “charging” concentrated phytochemicals/phytonutrients. These are substances naturally found in fruits and vegetables and act as the plants’ immune system. Green juices often promote weight loss if needed. You increase your intake of vitamins and minerals while reducing your intake of fast carbohydrates. Green juices increase energy. When your body has an abundance of the nutrients it needs, those who drink green juice can get an almost immediate “kick” of energy. How to make a green detox juice What you don’t drink can be stored in a glass jar in the fridge for 1-2 days (absolutely max 3 days). This recipe makes 2 servings. 1 cucumber8 celery stalks2 green apples3 dl green leaves (e.g., kale, spinach, pea shoots)1 lemon2-3 cm peeled ginger Wash all vegetables (preferably choose organic vegetables), peel the lemon, and core the apples. Put everything in smaller pieces into the juicer. Slowly, one piece at a time. Enjoy! Feel free to share your favorite juice recipes in a comment!

Are you getting enough fluids during the warm summer days? It is important to replenish with the right fluids during hot days to avoid dehydration, headaches, and sluggishness. When you sweat a lot, lose fluids due to sports or illness, it is very important to remember to rehydrate. Here are 5 simple tips on how to get enough fluids this summer. 1. Water Plain water is the best thing you can drink to hydrate your body. In most places in Sweden, we have wonderfully good tap water that can be drunk without filtering, so fill up an insulated water bottle with cold water straight from the tap and enjoy. Add a slice of lemon or some cucumber slices if you want to flavor your water a little. Here you can see our full range of water bottles. 2. Electrolyte powder An electrolyte powder* helps you maintain fluid balance in the body. Supplementing with electrolytes can be beneficial during hot, sweaty summer days, long sports sessions, sauna bathing, when following a ketogenic diet, and when you are ill. The powder is easily mixed into a large glass of water and can be consumed 1-4 times a day. Pureness electrolyte powder comes in the delicious flavors Mango & Orange, Lemon & Lime, Pineapple, and Forest Berry. * Electrolytes are a group of important minerals that we need to regularly obtain through our diet. They are named because they are essentially electrically charged minerals. This group includes sodium, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, all of which have important functions in the body – including contributing to fluid balance and many muscle, heart, and nerve functions. In addition to the main electrolytes, Pureness Electrolyte Powder also contains Guerande sea salt, vitamin C, and organic sulfur (OptiMSM). 3. Homemade oral rehydration solution After a tough day in the sun, it can be nice to restore the body's balance with an oral rehydration solution. Here is a simple recipe for homemade oral rehydration solution suitable for both children and adults. Recipe for homemade, sugar-free oral rehydration solution with honey 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt 1 liter water 2 tbsp organic honey or skip sweetener (note that children under 1 year should not eat honey) Juice from 1 organic lemon Instructions: Heat water and salt in a saucepan. Let the mixture cool to about 38 degrees Celsius and add about 2 tbsp honey (honey should not be heated above 38 degrees as it loses its beneficial properties) and the lemon juice. Stir and pour into a glass jar, chill, and serve. Store in the refrigerator. The oral rehydration solution will keep for about 3 days. 4. Homemade ice pops An easy and tasty way to get fluids is to make homemade ice pops in stainless steel ice pop molds. Mix cold water or your favorite drink with raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries and freeze in molds. Or try our refreshing watermelon ice pop! Watermelon ice pop recipe Use organic watermelon, organic honey, and optionally organic mint. 1. Blend watermelon in a blender/mixer and add as much honey and mint as you like – or skip entirely. Terranova was founded in 2008 by Stephen Terrass, former technical director of Solgar supplements in the UK. Stephen is one of Europe’s leading authorities in natural medicine, with a special focus on herbal medicine and botanical science. During his 34-year career in nutrition and herbal medicine, Stephen has given over 500 lectures in 19 countries and has been a recurring guest lecturer in nutrition and natural remedies at universities. Stephen is also the author of eight books. Natural & plant-based supplements Terranova’s supplements are natural, plant-based, vegan-friendly, gluten-free, and always ethically produced. All plants and herbs come from organic farms. All Terranova products are also free from additives, meaning no preservatives, no synthetic binders, and no sweeteners. The country of origin is England. Freeze-dried herbs and plants with PhytoFRESH Terranova’s PhytoFRESH system means that most herbs and plants are freeze-dried, preserving their bioactivity. In practice, a freeze-dried plant is equivalent to a freshly picked one, with the only difference being that all moisture is removed. PhytoFRESH is a method where the fresh plant, fruit, or herb is immediately frozen to a very low temperature right after harvest. Then the material is freeze-dried using a unique method that removes 100% of all water. Terranova’s dark glass jars also keep the contents fresh and are recyclable**.** Extra nutrition with Magnifood Terranova’s unique synergy system Magnifood makes the relatively low-dosed ingredients (vitamins & minerals) several times more effective than traditional supplements. Magnifood is a synergy blend consisting of fresh, freeze-dried, and organically grown plants. The blend is uniquely developed for each product as an additive (40-60% of the capsule volume) to create a strong “magnification” of the effect on the other nutrients in the product. Magnifood thus acts as a synergist and provides better absorption, bioavailability, and effect of the product’s nutrients. It also offers a wide range of phytonutrients. Their LifeDrink is a very popular bestseller. It is an excellent powdered supplement containing a large amount of phytonutrients, antioxidants, trace elements, chlorophyll, vitamins, proteins, enzymes, lactic acid bacteria, essential fatty acids, and fibers.
Read more3 common workout myths that hinder your training success
Many of us sooner or later experience a wake-up call in life where we realize that we need and also want to start moving more. When we move more than we usually have before, an inner resistance can arise. It is then easy to choose to believe myths or so-called "fundamental beliefs" about exercise that we have never really examined, which in turn leads to us "forgetting" to exercise or coming up with other excuses. Therefore, let's now look together at three common ideas about exercise. 1. You need to be motivated to exercise This myth is based on two assumptions: that exercise is hard or boring and that we actually don’t want to move. What may be missing is a deeper "why" in our exercise that activates our natural playfulness and curiosity about our physical capacity. You can easily explore a deeper "why" for your exercise by answering the question: Why do I exercise? The most common answers are: I want to feel good and be healthy. This often means having more energy in everyday life and not getting sick often. And if you do get sick, being able to recover quickly. I want to look good naked. This can be a desire to lose weight or build muscle or simply a wish to feel good naked and like yourself. I want to live a long life. Many of us want to reach old age but not as sick individuals, rather as healthy people with full brain capacity. Exercise can also be about reducing joint pain, living long enough to meet grandchildren, or being able to do something specific like becoming good at dancing, handstands, climbing a tall tree, running a certain distance, mastering a special yoga pose, or lifting a certain weight. If you have something you want to be able to do or change that is important or fun for you, the chance is much greater that you will want to exercise. Then you don’t need any "motivation" or "pep" to go and work out. You are motivated from within, by your own curiosity and meaningfulness. Another equally important aspect is that when you are used to exercising, you will automatically be more eager to exercise. It becomes a bit like brushing your teeth; it feels a little strange not to do it eventually. Find a why or goal that makes you feel alive and have fun while you exercise! 2. You have to train hard every day to succeed with "x" One idea that circulates is that "the harder and more often you train, the better you get." This is probably true if you train a specific art like table tennis or salsa. But if you train, for example, strength or endurance, most of the effects of the training happen after your workout, i.e., when you rest, eat, and do other things in life. You need to give your body time and recovery to get results. Another aspect of training very often and intensely is that it can be easy to overexert yourself, which leads to injuries or a weakened immune system. This then does not lead to long-term effectiveness or healthy training that we all want. You need to train often enough to continuously improve a little. The body needs 2 to 6 days between sessions depending on what you train. The more you push yourself during a session, the longer recovery time you need. Lighter activities like stretching and balance can be done every day, e.g., yoga, while heavy strength training requires more time between sessions. So don’t forget recovery! 3. You have to eat a certain way to succeed with your training If we believe that we have to stick to a very strict diet, eat a certain number of times per day, and/or avoid things we otherwise enjoy to succeed with our training, we create unnecessary resistance to moving. Instead, we would like to invite you to explore what you crave to eat after you have trained? How does it feel in your body and what works best for you? Of course, there are habits and guidelines that are good for everyone, e.g., it is more supportive for our bodies to eat natural, nutritious, and toxin-free food. Excessively processed food, additives, and chemicals disturb the body, which takes energy instead of helping with recovery. If you want to make it easy to replenish with good nutrition after training, we offer great smoothie recipes. There are many different ways of eating that work for different people. Remember: no diet is right for everyone. Natural food works better than unnatural food, and it’s good to fill your kitchen with clean, nutritious food that makes you feel good. Read moreDIY Facial Oil: Create Skincare Tailored to Your Skin
Finding the perfect skincare product is a challenge for many. With all the different options on the market, it can feel like a jungle to navigate to find something natural, sustainable, and affordable that also suits your skin’s needs. But we have the solution: oils! Why make your own facial oil? We often get questions about which creams are best for different conditions, e.g. dry skin, problematic skin, or oily skin. Mostly the result turns out really well, but for some it seems impossible to find the right one. Then we usually suggest a trick that rarely fails; take matters into your own hands and mix your own facial oil. You can customize the ingredients according to your unique needs, you get full control over the contents of the bottle, and you can make lots of different combinations with just a few ingredients. Is it difficult to make? Not at all. All you need for your own skin oil are three components: a base oil, one or more oils that add bonus nourishment, and an essential oil that contributes luxurious aromas. DIY recipe: How to make your own facial oil Here we have compiled a small guide of different oils that suit each ingredient best, along with the healthy effects they provide. Hope this can help you! 1. First choose a base oil like one of these: Argan Oil – for dry, aging, oily, and normal skin. Intensely moisturizing. Jojoba Oil – for dry, normal, combination, or oily skin as well as acne-prone skin. Balances sebum production. Apricot Kernel Oil – for all skin types, especially good for normal, dry, and aging skin. Universal oil. Almond Oil – for all skin types. Fantastic facial oil, gentle and nourishing. Universal oil. Grapeseed Oil – for dry, normal, oily, or acne-prone skin. Soothing for the skin and mildly astringent. Green Avocado Oil – for dry, aging, and sun-damaged skin. Increases elasticity and hydrates. Camellia Oil – for all skin types. Absorbs quickly and reduces fine lines while deeply moisturizing. Universal oil. Baobab Oil – suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and oily skin. A true anti-aging oil that improves skin elasticity. 2. Then choose a "bonus-nourishing" oil: Kalahari Melon Oil – light oil but moisturizing, without any greasy feeling, also works for acne-prone skin. Rosehip oil – dry, aging, and normal skin. Highly regenerative with anti-aging properties. Raspberry seed oil – all skin types, a fantastic facial oil. Repairing, regenerating, and soothing. Macadamia oil – for dry, damaged, aging skin. Renews the skin, restores moisture, and improves skin quality. Marula oil – for mature skin, dry skin. Protects the skin against aging, reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Borage oil – most skin types, especially oily and acne-prone skin. Very rich in GLA (gamma-linolenic acid). Evening primrose oil – normal skin, mature skin, nourishes the skin. Rich in GLA (gamma-linolenic acid). Tamanu oil – both dry skin and acne-prone skin. Known anti-aging oil and regenerative. Pomegranate seed oil – normal, dry skin, including sensitive skin. Naturally anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, soothing, and moisturizing. Moringa oil – mature, dry skin and oilier skin with acne. Rich in antioxidants that protect while purifying the skin. Black Cumin Oil – all skin types, including sensitive skin. Prevents skin aging and deeply nourishes. Hemp oil – for all skin types, soothing, moisturizing. Naturally anti-inflammatory, contains omega 3-6-9. These two oils are already blended in other oils and work best as they are: Carrot oil – for all skin types. Provides intense protection, even for sun-damaged skin, due to its high beta-carotene content. Calendula oil – for problematic skin such as itchy skin, acne, eczema, or diaper rash. Stimulates the skin’s healing process and cell renewal. 3. Then choose one essential oil (optional) Lavender – most skin types, normal, dry, oily; lavender heals and soothes. Peppermint – oily and acne-prone skin. Highly astringent. Cedarwood – normal, oily skin and acne-prone skin. Astringent but also calming. Patchouli – for normal skin or just because you love the scent. Frankincense – soothes dry and sensitive skin and balances oily skin. Geranium – most skin types, including oily skin. Balances the skin's sebum production. Lemongrass – normal, oily skin and acne-prone skin. Stimulates overloaded skin. Rosemary – normal, oily skin and acne-prone skin. Stimulating oil. Orange – normal skin, oily skin, blemished skin, clogged skin. Adds radiance to the skin. How to make You need a bottle or jar with some kind of lid, preferably dark glass, as well as the oils. Fill your glass bottle/jar with 2/3 of your base oil. Add your "bonus nourishing" oil until the bottle is almost full. Optional: then add between 3-8 drops of essential oil depending on the size of the bottle. About 1 drop per 15 ml. Shake the bottle after each drop so you can smell your way to how much essential oil you want. You should be able to smell it, but it shouldn't be overwhelming. Essential oils have very different beneficial effects and wonderful scents, which can sometimes be appreciated since not all oils are considered pleasantly fragrant. For example, neem oil smells really bad, moringa smells like grass, black cumin is very peppery, and so on. What is an essential oil? Essential oils are produced from flowers, twigs, leaves, seeds, and roots of aromatic plants. Each essential oil is unique in its composition. Essential oil is a fragrant plant extract that is part of the plant's immune defense. They are fat-soluble, which allows them to penetrate the skin and be absorbed through inhalation. The oils have low-dose effects such as antispasmodic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, stimulating, and can increase blood circulation, among others. In high doses, they can cause allergic reactions, so you should dose carefully. Plants that contain essential oils include lavender, basil, chamomile, sage, rosemary, anise... basically all plants with a strong scent. PS: The term "essential oil" is not correct in Swedish; it's a poor translation from the English "essential oil." Now you know. And remember, always choose organic oils – whether it's a vegetable oil or an essential oil! If you need help choosing products, you can always contact our specialists at hej@glimja.se!
Read moreHow to detox your home from harmful chemicals
“In the safe haven of home,” people often say. And surely the home should be a safe place even when it comes to chemicals. But unfortunately, there can be quite a few hidden chemicals lurking in the home. Chemicals enter our homes in various ways. And most of them we actually bring into our homes voluntarily through the purchases we make. Many times completely unaware of which substances are hiding in our tools, gadgets, and furnishings. When it comes to chemicals in the home, the first thing we might think of is the chemicals in cleaning products. But then there are many chemicals we often don’t even think about, which are constantly emitted from our electronics, plastic flooring, furniture, and textiles. Chemicals that can disrupt our hormone balance or cause allergies or cancer. Plastic is a fantastic material and is still needed in our modern society. But various chemicals are used in plastic to give it different properties so it, for example, doesn’t crack easily or withstand strong sunlight. Color and fragrance substances can also be added. Unfortunately, these chemicals slowly leak out of the plastic. And as a consumer, it is almost impossible to keep track of which plastics are dangerous and which are not. Legislation, controls, and labeling make it a bit easier. Chemicals in toys Children are more sensitive than adults, so we need to be extra careful about which chemicals they come into contact with. The EU’s chemical legislation is the best in the world, and the rules for toys are even stricter. Therefore, always choose toys made within the EU. And if you buy second-hand toys, make sure they were made after 2007, or even better, after 2013 when the rules were tightened further. Choose toys made from natural materials such as wood, fabric, wool, porcelain, stainless steel, paper, and ceramics. Don’t give children old electronics or other gadgets that are not toys to play with, as they are not covered by the same strict legislation as toys. Also choose chemical-free organic textiles such as duvets, sheets, and children’s clothes. Always wash all clothes and fabrics before use. Common conventional textiles can contain dye residues, anti-mold agents, and other toxic chemicals that you don’t want against the skin. Good eco-labels for textiles are GOTS and OEKO-TEX. Replace foam mattresses with ones made from natural materials. Or check that they are not treated with flame retardants. Textiles, mattresses, and even building materials release the most chemicals when they are new. Electronics do not belong in playrooms or bedrooms as they are often treated with flame retardants and contain other hazardous substances, and the dust near them often contains substances you don’t want your child to be exposed to. The kitchen In the kitchen, it is important to try to reduce the number of chemicals, especially when it comes to materials we use for cooking that get heated. This includes, for example, plastic lunch boxes and plastic utensils we use for frying. When plastic gets warm, it generally leaks more than usual. Think about the spatula or the TV remote, both of which get warm when you use them. These substances are then inhaled, get into your food, or are absorbed through the skin. Food packaging can also pose a threat. Some cardboard packaging that needs to resist water and fat can contain the extremely persistent and harmful environmental toxins PFAS. Other packaging, such as tin cans, can contain hormone-disrupting bisphenol A. Prefer packaging like Tetra Pak or BPA-free metal containers. Frying pans, baking sheets, and molds with non-stick surfaces, such as Teflon, also contain PFAS. Instead, opt for cast iron and steel. Cut down on plastic and don’t buy new plastic for the kitchen. Don’t heat plastic in the microwave and avoid melamine dinnerware (hard plastic) which can leak melamine when heated or with acidic foods. Use lunch boxes made of stainless steel or glass. Choose stainless steel, cast iron, glass, and ceramics for cooking. Use bamboo or wooden cutting boards and kitchen utensils made of stainless steel or wood. Oil the wood regularly and sprinkle salt overnight sometimes to kill bacteria. Cleaning Chemicals also accumulate in dust. Therefore, it is important to ventilate and vacuum often. Vacuum first and then wipe with a damp cloth so that the toxins end up in the trash that is incinerated and not in the wastewater. When it comes to cleaning, it is easy to clean ecologically. Choose an organic, eco-labeled dish soap and mix 1/5 with water in a spray bottle when hand washing dishes. Sonett has two types of dish soap (Calendula & Citrus) that both effectively remove dirt while being gentle on hands and the environment. Vinegar removes lime stains and odors and is good for window cleaning. Baking soda works as a metal polish, on pots with burnt food, stains, and odors. Wash clothes with laundry nuts or with an eco-labeled detergent such as Sonett’s Liquid detergent sensitive or liquid detergent lavender. Use soap for floors and ovens. The toilet is easily cleaned with Sodasans WC power gel or Sonett’s natural toilet cleaner. Avoid expensive specialty cleaners and products containing synthetic fragrances. Green plants have a fantastic ability to absorb harmful chemicals from the air, rehydrate it, oxygenate, and absorb carbon dioxide. So fill your home with Golden Pothos, Ivy, Peace Lily, Snake Plant, and other plants that purify the air. Summary Choose furnishings made from natural materials. Choose eco-labeled products. Avoid buying more plastic for your home from now on. Choose toys made from natural materials. Choose toys made after 2007 and within the EU. Wash new textiles. Cut down on plastic in the kitchen as much as possible. Choose eco-labeled laundry and cleaning products. Vacuum and ventilate to remove dust that contains many chemicals. Have live green plants at home. Here at Glimja, you’ll find eco-friendly laundry and cleaning products and most of what you need for a sustainable lifestyle!
