It often happens that people wonder why there is such a big price difference for the same types of products within natural skincare.
When it comes to conventional skincare products, the price is usually determined by how much advertising money a brand spends.
In organic skincare, it is mostly about the ingredients and the technology behind them.
The most common reasons for price differences:
- The amount of water.
- The percentage (%) of organic ingredients of the total amount.
- Which raw materials are used and in what quantities. For example, olive oil belongs to the more affordable raw material group, while Moroccan rose oil is more expensive.
- Advanced products with more anti-aging ingredients made for specific skin types and purposes cost more to develop and produce compared to simpler variants.
- Whether the product is certified and which certification is used also matters. A stricter certification requires more effort to meet the requirements and is therefore more costly. The more certifications, the more expensive (organic, vegan, fair trade, etc.)
- The type of packaging used. Plastic or glass. Glass is more expensive.
- Whether it is recycled or not.
- Eco-friendly printing ink or not.
- Manufacturing method with regard to the environment, fair trade, etc.
