This African black soap is traditionally handmade and fair trade certified by women's cooperatives in Ghana, West Africa.
Shea butter, coconut oil, palm oil, cocoa butter, and rose water
African Black Soap is made from wild-harvested, unrefined shea butter, coconut oil, palm oil, and cocoa butter, as well as organic rose water, and looks like melted chocolate! It produces a wonderfully creamy lather and leaves the skin feeling hydrated and soft.
Traditional soap-making method
Liquid African Black Soap is made with shea butter and oils, as well as lye from vegetable ash, such as cocoa shells. This is the oldest and most traditional way to make soap, as ash has been used for thousands of years to create a lye solution. The soap’s lovely black-brown color results from the saponification process.
Pure, natural, and skin-friendly soap
The shea butter and oils become saponified. No lye remains in the finished product after the process is complete. No chemicals, preservatives, or synthetic fragrances are added. Thanks to the purity and simplicity of the ingredients, it is one of the most skin-friendly soaps available.
