Naturally occurring blue-green freshwater algae

AFA (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae) is a naturally occurring blue-green freshwater algae that grows wild in Upper Klamath Lake in Oregon, USA. It has long been valued for its broad content of naturally occurring nutrients and plant compounds.

E3Live’s wild-harvested AFA algae are harvested under carefully controlled conditions in the protected area around Upper Klamath Lake. After harvesting, the algae undergo extensive quality controls and are gently dried to preserve the raw material’s natural properties.

Vitamins, minerals, amino acids, chlorophyll, phycocyanin

AFA naturally contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids, chlorophyll, and phycocyanin – the blue pigment that gives the algae their characteristic color. Phycocyanin makes up a significant part of the dry weight of AFA algae and occurs in higher concentration than in many spirulina products.

Phenylethylamine (PEA)

AFA is also one of the natural food sources that contains phenylethylamine (PEA), a substance also naturally found in cocoa.
