Eyebright (Ögontröst in Swedish) is a highly valued plant. The name reveals much about this herb. The Latin name Euphrasia comes from the ancient Greek word Euphrosyne, who was one of the three daughters of the Greek god Zeus. The plant has small purple or white flowers that bloom in late summer and autumn. It can be found naturally in grassy meadows and pastures in Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, and other European countries.
