Himalayan crystal salt is a type of rock salt from Pakistan rich in minerals and trace elements. White table salt is often chemically purified with aggressive techniques, which removes beneficial nutrients. Rock salts are found as salt deposits in mountains that were once seas millions of years ago. Rock salt is mined in salt mines located in several places around the world.

Himalayan crystal salt comes from Pakistan and contains minerals not found in regular "table salt" and contains very little iodine (about 5 μg/100g). Rock salt from Pakistan and northern India gets its pink/red color from the iron compounds it contains. Rock salt from other locations may also have a yellow or sometimes blue tint due to various minerals.

How do I use the salt?

• You can use it in regular cooking.
• You can use it in your nasal rinse pot.
• You can use it as bath salt; it is very cleansing, stimulating, and has a relaxing effect on the whole body. Dissolve 300-500 g of salt in the water and bathe for 20 minutes, then let your body air dry.
• You can use it as a body scrub. Mix 1 part organic body oil with two parts salt and about 20 drops of essential oil (if you want fragrance). Store in a tightly sealed glass jar. You can keep it by the shower and enjoy a lovely body scrub whenever you want. Salt and honey also make a fantastic combination. Simply drizzle honey over the salt in a small bowl, apply to the body, wait a while, and rinse off.
• You can use it in your foot bath. Mix 1 dl salt with 15 drops of essential oil. Stir and add everything to the water.
