Opti3 complex; microalgae oil rich in natural omega 3 (triglyceride form), sunflower oil and antioxidants (rosemary extract, tocopherols and ascorbyl palmitate), cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), vegetable capsule made of modified potato starch, vegetable glycerol, carrageenan and sodium carbonate.

How do you know that Opti3 is free from environmental toxins?
Opti3 contains algal oil cultivated in stainless steel vessels under controlled conditions, which allows Vegetology to precisely monitor the composition. The oil is not at risk of environmental toxins as is the case with, for example, fish oil. To sell these products within the EU, Vegetology must meet contamination criteria specified by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Each batch must be tested and shown to meet this criterion.
Does Opti3 contain iodine?
Opti3 does not contain any nutritionally significant amount of iodine because it is not sourced from the sea like fish oil, but is cultivated in stainless steel vessels so the composition is very carefully controlled. It can only be described as "trace" amounts of iodine.
How is the oil extracted from the algae?
Opti3 is cultivated under controlled conditions in stainless steel tanks. When the algal cells mature, they rupture through an enzymatic process to release the oil, which is then separated from the water and cell biomass. Vegetology does not use solvents or chemicals in the process; it is a physical separation. They add antioxidants to protect the oil, but these are also natural.

Why does Opti3 contain Carrageenan?
Vegetology uses a small amount of Carrageenan (which comes from seaweed) to form a vegetable capsule. It is an excellent alternative to animal gelatin. The level they use is extremely low and its safety has been extensively demonstrated. They use pharmaceutical quality. Its safety has been continuously ratified by all authorities including the US FDA and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). An alternative could be to open the capsule and take the contents in a shot instead – this avoids the carrageenan.
Why is there sunflower oil in the product? Is it tested for rancidity?
A small amount of high oleic sunflower oil (Helianthus Annuus) is used as an important carrier during the production of the microalgal oil. The level of Omega-6 is very small and insignificant in the final formula. Vegetology carefully stability tests all their formulas. Their Omega-3 product shows excellent oxidative stability as a result of their production processes and the presence of natural antioxidants.
