Organic Blueberry Powder 250 g - Glimja

Description

Not all blueberries are the same. The difference between wild Nordic blueberries and the larger, cultivated blueberries often sold in stores is clear, both in color, taste, and nutritional content.

The wild berries (Vaccinium myrtillus), also called bilberries or forest blueberries, are smaller, darker, and blue all the way through. They grow slowly in a northern climate with long bright summer days and cool nights, conditions that naturally favor the development of anthocyanins.

Cultivated blueberries are often light inside and milder in both taste and color, while wild berries are characterized by their deep color and naturally high content of anthocyanins.

Wild blueberries from Nordic forests

Glimja's blueberry powder is an organic blueberry powder made from wild-picked berries from the northern forests of Finland.

The berries are harvested only when fully ripe and gently ground into a fine powder from the whole berry. This means you get both color, flavor, and naturally occurring plant compounds in their original form.

The result is a blueberry powder with deep color, distinct berry flavor, and preserved character from the wild berries.

Naturally rich in anthocyanins and vitamin C

The dark color in wild blueberries comes from anthocyanins – natural polyphenols that act as antioxidants. A daily dose contains about 71.5 mg of anthocyanins.

Blueberries also contain vitamin C, which contributes to:

• normal immune system function
• to reduce tiredness and fatigue
• to protect cells from oxidative stress
• normal energy metabolism
• normal collagen formation which is important for skin and blood vessels

In addition, blueberries naturally contain fiber and various phenolic compounds.

For those who want to include more berries in their diet and appreciate raw materials from Nordic forests with naturally high levels of anthocyanins and a deep berry character.
