Organic Swedish Cold-Spun Honey
Honey is food created by bees, primarily from nectar from flowers.
Lugnets Bigårdar is a small beekeeping business located in Sörmland. At Lugnets Bigårdar, they always strive to handle bees, honey, and wax in the most gentle and natural way possible. This means, among other things, that the bees get to build part of their own wax themselves, exactly as they want it and not as the beekeeper wants.
The honey is never heated during the process, to preserve all the “good” substances such as enzymes and other beneficial components in the honey as much as possible. The usual practice in honey production is to heat the honey several times.
What does direct-spun honey mean?
The honey is never heated above the temperature that can occur inside a beehive during the process, to preserve all the “good” substances in the honey as much as possible. On their labels, you can read that the honey is direct-spun. This means that the honey is spun, filtered, and mixed with a few percent of already crystallized honey, so it can be jarred directly and then the jars are stored in a cool place.
The honey from Lugnets Bigårdar is locally sourced, meaning the honey comes from hives located in the area stated on the label. The production is organic and certified by KRAV. Organic honey means, among other things, that it is not allowed to clip the queen bee’s wings to prevent swarming, and no chemical pesticides are permitted near or in the beehives.
Honey is healthy. It contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, has a lower glycemic index than sugar, and also tastes sweeter than sugar. Honey has been used by humans for thousands of years, both as a sweetener and in natural medicine.
Tip: Sore throat? Take a teaspoon of 50/50 pressed lemon and honey.
Manufacturer: Honey produced by Lugnets Bigårdar. The farm is run by Niklas Nyström.
It is very important that bee products come from beekeepers who respect the environment, the beehive, and the bees’ language. Many beekeepers today have problems with bees flying away because we destroy the environment/nature with spraying and GMOs.
It’s time to wake up and take care of our bees!
What can we do? Always buy untreated honey. Preferably from local beekeepers if you find someone trustworthy who does not treat their honey and takes care of the bees on their terms. Never buy honey from China. Plant flowers and plants that bees like in your garden or on your little patch (they love purple and blue flowers). Choose organically grown food as much as possible.
”If the bee disappeared from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years of life left.” Albert Einstein.
