Description
Black Cumin Oil is extracted from the flower’s fruits, which are capsules containing seeds. Black Cumin Oil, or Nigella Oil, has traditionally been used as both a beauty oil and a cooking oil in Arab, African, and Asian countries.
Cleopatra is said to have used it for beauty treatments. Queen Nefertiti used it for hair and nails. Hippocrates used it for the stomach. Archaeologists have found that King Tutankhamun preserved a bottle of black cumin oil in his tomb for the afterlife. The ancient Greeks made preparations from the seeds to treat toothache and headaches as well as to support digestion. The Prophet Muhammad is said to have stated that black cumin “is healing for all diseases except death.” The seed oil has also been used in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years.
Black cumin oil is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially Omega 6 and 9. The main active ingredient in black seed oil is crystalline nigellone. Black cumin seeds contain over 100 substances. The seed contains beta-sitosterol, thymoquinone, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, arachidonic acid, proteins, and vitamins B1, B2, and B3. They also contain calcium, folic acid, iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorus. The oil can be taken internally or used externally.
Black Cumin Oil can be applied directly to the skin and hair. The oil protects the skin and gives a nice complexion while leaving the skin smooth. The oil is beneficial for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and helps prevent skin aging. For skincare, this oil can be used pure or diluted with another oil as a facial and body oil. Black Cumin Oil has a very peppery scent, so if you don’t like it, it is recommended to mix it with another oil.
