Bee pollen is one of the most complete, nutrient-rich foods found in nature. It contains vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, most enzymes and coenzymes the body needs, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and essential sugars (so-called "glyconutrients").
Nutrients in Their Most Bioavailable Form
All these nutrients are in their most bioavailable form, meaning they are easily absorbed by the body. Bee pollen has therefore traditionally been used as a natural "vitamin tablet" for optimal health and a long life. In China, Egypt, the Roman Empire, Europe, and among the Aztecs, bee pollen has been highly valued for its health properties for centuries.
Where Does Pollen Come From?
When bees collect nectar from flowers to make honey, they also gather pollen by rubbing against the inside of the flower. This is what causes the bees to "fertilize" the flowers on their journey between them, enabling the plants to reproduce. Honeybees have evolved to collect only the best, most nutritious pollen they can find, investing a lot of time and energy in doing so.
How Is Ballot-Flurin’s Bee Pollen Produced?
For only a few hours each day (to avoid stressing the bees), their beekeepers place "pollen traps" on the hives, which catch some of the pollen the bees have collected when they return home from fields in France and Spain. They are only allowed to take 300 units per month.
The pollen grains are then dried immediately after collection. They are not heated or treated in any other way, all to preserve the active substances and enzymes.
Ballot-Flurin’s Pollen Is Guaranteed Raw and Untreated
Ballot-Flurin’s pollen is minimally processed, meaning no freezing, nitrogen treatment, or sorting of pollen grains. Their Hydroplus system ensures natural preservation at room temperature, maintaining the nutrients and energetic vitality from the bees.
Their Paleo certification also guarantees that the pollen granules do not contain cultivated grains, dairy products, artificial colorings, preservatives, sweeteners, flavorings, or flavor enhancers.
Pollen from organic farming. Certified by FR-BIO-10, Qualité-France SAS - Le Guillaumet 92046 Paris La Défense.
This bee pollen comes from Spain, the Extremadura region in the mountains. It is certified organic and has been tested for pesticides.
This also means; no use of antibiotics on the bees and at least 50% organic fields within a 3 km radius around the beehives.
1 tsp per day is recommended depending on taste and needs. It is preferably taken in the morning. Note: should not be consumed if allergic to bee products. If you are allergic to bee stings, we advise against eating pollen.
Gradual increase is recommended. Start with a smaller dose (about ¼ tsp) of bee pollen. It is better to eat a little and then increase the dose. Feel free to mix the pollen with your saliva in your mouth before swallowing. Some people who eat pollen may initially experience mild forms of irritation in the gastrointestinal tract, headaches, or nausea due to the rich nutritional content and potency of bee pollen. Therefore, it is recommended to start with a smaller dose.
Tip: Can also be mixed with a little honey or juice. You can also soak a teaspoon in water overnight and then drink it at breakfast. Pollen is also suitable for sweetening or as decoration on various baked goods and desserts.
WARNING: It sometimes happens (very rarely) that someone is allergic to bee pollen. Uncommon allergic reactions can include swelling, palpitations, and difficulty breathing. If you have never eaten bee pollen before, you can try placing a grain under your tongue to see if it causes any reaction. Then take two grains daily to slowly increase to one teaspoon per day if you do not notice any reaction.
You can also make a face mask with pollen and honey, mix in a bowl:
- 2 tsp pollen
- 1 tsp yogurt
- 1/4 tsp honey
Wash your face with water and then apply your mask with your fingertips over your entire face and neck. Leave space around the eyes. Let it work for about 20 minutes and then rinse off.
Ballot-Flurin is located in France and takes care of the bees in a gentle way, i.e.: Apiculture Douce - Gentle Beekeeping. Their products are produced locally in the countryside, away from environmental pollution, which is very important when choosing bee products.
It is important that bee products come from beekeepers who respect the environment, respect the beehive, and the language of the bees. Many beekeepers today have problems with bees flying away because we destroy the environment/nature with spraying and GMOs.
It is time to wake up and take care of our bees!
What can we do?
- Well, always buy honey that is untreated, raw. Preferably from local beekeepers if you find someone who feels right, who does not treat their honey and who takes care of the bees on their terms.
- Never buy honey from China.
- Plant flowers and plants that bees like in your garden or on your little patch. (they love purple and blue flowers)
- Choose organically grown food as much as possible.
"If the bee disappeared from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years of life left." Albert Einstein.
